Is Clayton running a conventional buggy?
Besides, its a
$15,000+ subie. Like I said, you gotta put big bux in WC 4 cyl to make it run good up REAL hills, just like you have to with AC VW. They both take money to make 'em work WELL (key word being "well", it has different meanings to different folks) in the woods.
Ody, the numbers you are reading in "Suby Lover's Monthly" mean jack on the back of a hillclimbing buggy. I used to be the same always reading stuff and comparing dyno numbers yada yada "this motor makes this, that motor makes that"...blah blah blah. Dont mean NOTHING in the real world of hillclimbing. You missed a perfect opportunity at Wheelers to prove us wrong!

I dont think there has been any 2500 2nd gear SS KYbuggies at Wellsville. At least not that I've heard. Hell, from what I heard it didnt even take 2500s to come up there and show the wc's whats up. Willie and Pipedope did it with 2387s!! I'd love to come up there sometime and give you the chance to ride in one if you'd give your honest opinion. Hope I can afford it sometime. I've rode or drove many many kinds and setups of buggy out there, and there is nothing like a 1300lb 2500 2nd gear (except maybe a 1200 lb 2633 2nd gear

). If there was something more fun to drive, I'd sell mine in a heartbeat and do all I could to get it, but I havent been in anything that is more fun ...yet.
Just admit no subi conventional buggy will EVER consistently out climb a 2500 vw , and tell newbies that if they wanna climb they need AC VW , and I'll leave it alone.
