Geez.....the seller should give it to you.
Be tough to salvage that one.

WOW! The rest of the gears and shafts will look the same as that. The only way to work that out with the seller is to ship it back at his expence with a full refund. Ebay does have protection for this kind of thing.

Just fill it with hydrochloric acid and run it. That should eat up the rust.

I'm returning all the pieces to the seller Tuesday night at my expense, but I am getting all my money back. Sucks I blew $50.00 in gas and over 8 hours of my time driving on the whole experience. Next time, I'll pop the bellhousing off before I buy something...

File a claim with Ebay. At least it will go on his record. Pesonally I would pose that to him and make him cover your total costs. This is no different than going to a store to buy something. Its a legal binding contract and you do have rights.

The guy is making it as right as he can, don't drag him through the mud.
It is a used part. It is different than going to the store.
Caveat emptor.
I would have made him take the bellhousing off for inspection though.
The seller doesn't have to warranty anything unless it is explicitely expressed as having a warranty and was sold as beiong fit for use.

I try to take care of my customers though if something like that has happened as you well know Steve......
Trouble is I still took it in the backside on that deal.......

Gary, I agree with you to a point. It is true that it is a used part and buyer should be aware. However in reality its not usable and without an Internal Inspection the buyer would not have known at time of purchase. Based on the purchase price I dought the seller prempted his add with "condition unknown" or something on that line. I have no access to the add so I can not confirm. The buyer should not have to incur any cost here.
Our situation would not be a good comparitive considering you sent me a good usable unit that got damaged in transit. You made good on it and it was appreciated and have spread the word you are a good man to deal with. I too have taken it in the backside on a lot of deals in my life to preserve my Integrity. Its what we do.

I don't disagree that they seller needs to help out with this but he shouldn't be blackballed because of it.
On your w/c tranny, I got that from a guy that deals in VW stuff all the time.
He sold it to me as being a good take out.
He hasn't done anything about it but tell me "sorry".
I am assuming the eBay seller bought this and flipped it w/o any inspection.
Kinda the same thing.

There was no shipping on yours if you recall.
A customer of mine brought it to you in Wellsville.
When it turned out bad, Brian Drew took the replacement with him from me to the Lansing show and you swapped them out there.

I still have that basket case.......... :)

Returned to seller at MY expense. Lost about $60.00 in gas and a shit ton of my time. He threw the axles on the ground, and I said "What are you going to do with the axles"...... He told me he was going to scrap them, so I told him that I would like to have them for driving all the way down there to galloway twice for all this junk and my troubles and then he decided that "He was going to hang on to them." I got in the truck and left. I wrote it off as a bad experience and am moving on....

What a prick.... I would have given you’re money back and let you keep it all. Some people are just assholes. You know the old saying what goes around comes around. I would leave negative feedback on his ebay for sure.

I couldn't sleep at night pulling a stunt like that.
Sorry you had a bad experience.
Hope this asshat wasn't a buggy guy.

I've changed my thinking 180° on this deal.
Karma is a bitch and it will bite him eventually.

With that said, wanna buy my 6 rib?..........
