Alright I was wondering what makes up an 1835 , I kno thats what Im running and thats bout it for sure lol, But someone told me I have the 044 heads? So is it still a 1835? Im new to the vw motor, always been a 4wheeler guy any help would be great . thanks

An 1835 is a stock 69mm stroke and 92mm bore pistons. Some will tell you that the 92s will not last but I know people that ran them for years with no problems so run em until they are wore out.

044 heads is the casting number of them. This number can be found by popping off the valve cover and looking behind the rocker shaft. Different casting numbers have different flow rates and chambers which affect the way the engine performs. 044s are a good performance head for most situations.

alright thanks a lot , Ive been running this motor for 2yrs, god knows how long it was ran before that and it still screams has not one problem, Reason I was asking is because my buddy i ride with has an 1835 and mine seemed to have more nut behind it.

a 1835 is a good engine hook it to a 3rib and a set of 31 inch tires good combo

Go get you a six rib with that tire engine combo. Use your three rib bell housing and keep your starter. Some simple mods to trans mounts and you got a great first gear climber. Or go to 35's and be easy on that tranny,,or at least that is my experiences.

ic..Im looking for a bullet proof setup thats not so hard on the wallet, I already havta get some 930 cvs or go bus to bus I blow atleast one car a weekend in wellsville Im not gentle with it

Cam and heads make a big difference. My little motor runs with some quite a bit bigger because of little things. Good heads make power. 8)

yea i noticed, when we would be climbin he always seems to be a little under powered, where mine is just pullin strong the whole way up
