what happend at wilborns is sharpshooter thought he was going to wellsville and didnot handle things like he has in the past .Then the money was split. then the C.D. were put in a diffrent class ,then you see who went and won again . So F.B. you need to come ride with us and S.S. they could have had a crowd .You can't be wisshy wasshy. I tryed to talk to Leroy but he knew nothing .It's his freaking riding area.

I had rather flip my sh-- at wellsville
than win at wilborns

Update on hillclimb for memorial weekend, there will be only one class just like always a run what you brung and hope you brought enough with $1000 dollars to the winner. We are still trying to figure a fair way to break classes down before our big race in sept.but until then its run what you brung. There will still be a womans class paying $250 dollars to win,$100 dollar for the ugliest buggy and $100 dollars for the slowest combined times on the hill climb and $100 dollars for best show (flip). We apolagize for any inconveinence on the short notice on the rule changes, but if you can make it come on out. There will also be some barrel races and drag races on sunday afternoon

Thanks David (sharpshooter)

I posted this on sunday may 18th after a meeting at wilborns

Pro/open
This class would be open to any style buggy chain drive,v-8s,conventional, whatever This would also be the class for your serious hill climber or heavy hitters you know who you are

Sportsman class

This would be a class for your heavier buggys, that is not built just for hill climbing for example motor size, built trannys,2-4 seaters, bigger tires or maybe someone that may not have have been buggy riding a long time, this is where we would have to police our selves. It would also be mandatory to move up to the pro/open class in the next event if you post times as fast as the top five or so in the pro/open class.

I know there will be flaws with this but we have to start somewhere, before its to late

Thanks Sharpshooter

That sounds good to me.
And the results need to be posted in a "sticky" on here so if there is an event one place, and the next event is in the other, it will be easy to determine who may need to be moved to pro/open.

I think the sportsman class needs to pay WAY less than than Open/pro class, though. To prevent sandbagging.

Like if Pro/Open pays $2000 to win, Sportsman should pay around $250 to win.

Would there be two seperate classes to sign up for before the race starts (run all of one class , then run the other),....
or would you let each persons time determine what class they end up in
(30 people sign up and run together. The top ten (or so) are automatically classed as Pro/open and the rest Sportsman, with 11th place being called the "sportsman winner") :?: :?:

Oops, MY BAD.  Just scroll down or click on another thread, there is no law that says you have to read every post.

I dont see anyone arquing or whining. We are just trying to help find a way so everyone can enjoy PARTICIPATING inthe hillclimb events for years to come. Even little motor 2 seaters that blow up first ride and dont get fixed for half the year.

"ITS" not "already over". This is not only about the one event in AL last weekend. HOPEFULLY there are many more hillclimb events to come. This is making plans for something that could validate our hobby as a "real" motorsport someday. Even Baja, NASCAR and NHRA had to start somewhere.

I'll post what I want, where I want, until Dean, DVS1, or Admin says different.
I apologize for taking up your time, but let the grown ups talk for a minute.

No hard feelings

What would y'all think about a qualifying run ahead of the race to determine classes?

If you keep the prize money way smaller for sportsman, then only a REAL WEENIE would sandbag during qualifying, and if you win like two or three sportsman events in a row by more than half the difference between the averages of the two classes, maybe that could also be a mandatory move to pro/open??
I.E., if you are BARELY winning the class repeatedly, then you should not have to move, but if you are dominating with consistency then move 'em up.

Thoughts?

Well said, Larry..........Not too long ago, nobody had ever heard of "railbuggies" and now they are starting to get a lot of recognition.....The Monster Truck deal got this sport a LOT of exposure.....A lot of people who had no clue about buggies not only found out about them, but they got to see how awesome they are.....Nobody is going to be able to do it all by themselves, either....It takes a lot of talking back and forth, discussing different ideas that different people have to make this sport better and better.....I think once people experience the magnitude of these buggies, it's gonna really get huge..... 8)

I feel like we have to keep it going it has made people want buggys more and more. Buggys had almost died out but are now making a big come back. I hope we can keep this going but when there was only 8 entries it makes it hard to keep it up. The ideas for the smaller class will make it work we just have to hope the parks will keep doing this for us. The next one is D&K July 5th now come join in the fun.

C'Mon 'bama boys!! A bunch of KY folks was at your first one for this year, only a couple of y'all came up for Darrell's.
(It was close together in time, understandable)

Now its time to return the favor. You got several weeks to get ready for the trip !!

Tim says ALL KINDS of folks from up Wellsville way have said they will be there.

Should be a big one!!

I'm sorry Larry I shouldn't have opened the wilburns thread in pictures and videos and expected to see pictures and videos, my bad? Second, I understand what you guys are trying to do all I was saying there was a thread in buggy talk where the same subject was being discussed. Third, I read through the three pages and I did pick up some whining, I don't care i was just stating that. Fourth, I am sorry I have a little motor, and a two seat buggy, but it blew up on the second ride! haha. Sure I still have a little motor but it is built right and by no means stock, but if you want to bash me for that you're more than welcome too! As soon as I blew my motor I was right on top of it building another one so I'm sorry it took a half a year to get my buggy back together but I also don't have endless funds and I was in no rush. So, I'll stay out of your "grown up" talk since I'm only 19 years old that must mean I can't have an intelligent conversation. Thanks for your time!

NO HARD FEELINGS,

Jeff

You are right, there is a thread where this is being discussed, but it is probably the most important thing this website can do for our sport right now, and it should be being discussed and viewed by all. Any thread stolen over it is ok by me. Around here, like Bruce said, the hillclimbs have made a VERY significant boost in buggy interest. There are veterans who had gotten out of the hobby and came back into it because of these hillclimb events. They have helped our local Buggy shop owner to grow and have more funds to sponsor more events. They are helping our riding park to stay open to the public. I apologize for the remark about your motor, it was uncalled for, but I was pretty pissed about you telling a KEY person (Sharpshooter) who has a huge part in starting these events not to post up here because its a pics and vids section. He can plaster it all over every thread if it will help the competitions.

These discussions WILL allow those on smaller budget to compete and have fun, and most importantly , keep doing it and bringing in new people. I know how it sucks to never have a chance to win, I'm one of them. I'll probably never win because my buggy warrants me running with the big dogs, even though I dont have the skills to do so. I dont care. I'll still give my entry fee. It will help keep the hobby alive for others to get outdoors and enjoy years from now.

I am far from having an endless budget. I'm broke as a joke right now after riding this weekend and paying for some buggy upgrades. I sacrifice lunches and new boots when I need them and new clothes so I can build my buggy to the best it can be. Drive a POS '95 nissan car everyday to save gas money, and did so even when it was $1.50 a gallon. I make as many parts on the buggy that I can, or trade work with friends whenever possible. I work on commission and work til midnite or later every nite when I need something for my buggy, whether it be sidework, or for the dealership I work at. If I can afford a decent buggy, anyone with the ability to work can too.

I'm quite sure you can hold intelligent conversation. Age has nothing to do with intelligence, just wisdom. My son is much younger than you and he is sharper than I'll ever be again. In Fact, guys like you and him are exactly who these classes are trying to be developed for, so use some of your young brain and ability to problem solve in new ways to tell everyone how it would work best for you, instead of just thinking we are in your way when you want to watch a video. I think positive input from younger competitors would help S.S. and Gizmo a lot.

I hope my temper doesnt keep you from entering an event someday, I might should have let it slide and not said anything, but it struck me pretty hard to read your post. There have been COUNTLESS volunteer hours put in by the men who organize these events, I had to fire back. I fire up quick, but cool off quick , too. I'm over it . Come on down on July fifth. You wont regret it. Its a blast to just be involved with the competitions. HP and weight will have less bearing than ever in the next competition at D&K.

Seriously, no hard feelings

Yeah larry seriously i wasnt trying to piss anyone off and really i didnt mean about sharpshooters posts and all that what i meant was the people bickering about wilburns being shitty and blah blah blah because i personally just get sick of hearing people bitch on here. So i completely agree with what you guys are trying to do with the competitions and everything. I'd love to come down and im going to try my hardest to make it down. i guess it was just a big misunderstanding you thought i was bitching about something but i was really bitching about everyone else bitching? lol i hope that makes sense. Hopefully we can ride together this summer and i can learn a thing or two from you fellas!

Problem resolved!

Exactly,,,come on Bama boys.. lets ride up to the July climb and return the sprotmanship. Gizmo has a plan , and I'm sure it will be great. We can make this the biggest event of the year and meet lots of the guys we missed at the Wellsville event too. I'm stoked and will get my bugs worked out just in time.... :D

F.B. I would love to go but I don't want to have to deal with Bruce that far from home. So as long as he is representing D&K I as will many others will be some where else.

That is where you are very wrong. I have never said I represent any place or any one!! D&K is putting on the Hill climb event to give back to the people of the buggy community. But when people like you, Rock degrade the parks and events such as you did about Wilborns that in its self will stop these great events. Because you do not like D&K or Wilborns does not mean you should put these places down, and try to keep people from joining in the fun. Darrell and Kathleen have put a lot of work and money into this event so everybody can come and have a good time. If you do not want to support these places and events you should not say anything at all. There are only a few legal places to ride any more so let’s try and support the ones that are left.
