Doesnt sound to much different from what I was told when I talked to him last time we went riding. Basically everything is uncertain, and we most likely have atleast 6months of riding this year, SO expect the worst and hope for the best! OR we can all go chain ourselves and buggys to some trees??? lol Thanks for the post Ody

Baard’s coal conversion plant came closer to construction
January 1, 2011 - By TOM GIAMBRONI/Staff Writer

(Editor's note: The financial shot in the arm provided to Baard Energy to proceed with plans to build a $6 billion coal-to-energy plant in Wellsville was voted the third most newsworthy story of 2010 by the Morning Journal news staff.)

LISBON - After being given up for dead by some, the Baard Energy project came back to life in late 2010 after an investor stepped forward to provide financial assistance.

The project had been on hold for more than two years due largely to Baard's inability to obtain private financing for its Ohio River Clean Fuels facility to be built outside Wellsville. The $6 billion-plus plant would convert coal and biomass into jet and diesel fuel and is expected to create 250 jobs.

That all changed in October, when Planck Trading LLC, a Florida-based investment firm, agreed to put up the money for the purchase of the 522 acres for the plant.

By the end of the year, $600,000 had been provided to purchase the core property for the project, although the Columbiana County Port Authority will have to obtain extensions from the remaining property owners until the rest of the money is forthcoming. This will be the fifth time the purchase-option agreements had to be extended because of financial delays.

If everything goes according to the revised plans, site preparation would begin this spring.

After reading all the articles seems like baard is dead in the water.fraudulent investors, outstanding debt, and no collateral to borrow on.I'd say if it sells it won't be to these people, then again it seems like the more people owe the more they can get away with.maybe the president will give them the money, lol.Chad

Baard begins property purchase

EAST LIVERPOOL - Three down and 14 to go.

The Columbiana County Port Authority this week closed on acquiring property for the Baard Energy project from three of the 17 property owners, a move hailed by officials as a major step forward in the often uneven progress of the project.

"In my mind this is a major step forward for the Baard project and Columbiana County," Port Authority CEO Tracy Drake told his board.

"This is huge," Charles Presley agreed.

Baard Energy plans to build a $6 billion plant to convert coal and biomass into diesel and jet fuel on 522 acres located outside Wellsville in Yellow Creek Township.

The project has been stalled for the past two years, mostly because of Baard's inability to line up the private financing needed to proceed. These delays forced the port authority to obtain numerous extensions on the option/purchase agreements from the various property owners, for which they received additional compensation.

In October, a Florida-based investment company by the name of Planck Trading LLC agreed to finance the project, and last month Planck wired $600,000 to the port authority to begin acquiring the property on behalf of Baard.

Some of the $600,000 enabled the port authority to proceed with acquiring the first three properties while also seeking yet another extension on the option agreements from the remaining landowners.

The properties purchased this week and the amounts paid are: Pusateri Excavating, 40 acres, $255,300; George Yaney, 78 acres, $310,664; Burdell Brandle, 12 acres, $137,049. These figures are higher than the original purchase price because they include additional payments made for agreeing to the various option extensions.

Of the $703,013 paid these three property owners, the port authority contributed $161,000, according to port authority attorney Tim Brookes. State funding received by the port authority was also used to help pay for extension of the option agreements.

Drake said he expects a second infusion of cash any day from Planck so they can continue closing on the properties. Once completed, the port authority will t

Stuff like this is why I am still sceptical over the whole situation. I have been reading the sketchy stuff since the beginning, and have always doubted them. Sounds like a group of crooks.
