I have a stock swingaxle transaxle on my buggy and if i let it sit for about a month the shifter basically locks up and is hell to move but once i get it loose and ride it a little it shifts perfectly smooth. As long as i drive it every week or so it does fine but i was wondering if it is the bushings in the nose cone causing this problem. Ive had a few buggies before and never had this problem before??

Has your trans ever been sunk in a creek and the oil floated out of the vent hole and replaced with some water?Just a guess.Just enough water to make it sweaty inside.Got a trans from a huricane Mobile Al junk yard that was gaulded up this way.

Water infiltration is usually the cause.

Drain the trans and try new oil.

I tried draining the oil and putting fresh oil in last spring and the old oil was black and didnt look like it had any water in it. I have never taken the nose cone off where the shifter has bushings that i understand dont ever see any oil. Has anyone ever changed those bushings and if i pull it off are there alot of moving parts in the nose cone i need to look out for?
