I want to thank you guys. Very often the Troops are mentioned on this site and that is great. It means more to me now than I ever thought it would. As I have mentioned in the past my son Trae joined the Army this year. He is stationed in Ft. Carson Co. Most guys would be happy with that duty station but he saw a paper asking for guys to go to Iraq early and he signed it.
I am picking him up at the airport tomorrow morning and he will be here for 5 days. Then he goes back to Co. and will be in Kuwait Dec. 4th.
I have to tell you this has brought the war home for me. He will be there at least 15 months I am pretty sure those months will not pass quickly for those of us who know and love Trae. I just wanted to let you guys know whats going on. I can't find words to express how proud I am of him.
The picture below is Trae and his lovely girlfriend Kayla.
Thanks
Dean

Dean, you have a fine looking son there ,I know you are very proud of him. as all of us are. I'm a veteran myself and I know what it's like to be far from home wether its in colorado or a strange country, send that boy every letter, magizine, box of cookies, ect. that you can think of, because it sure is tuff when your not getting mail from home. When you find out his address post it. I would be glad to send him a "care package "
Take care , Bruce

Dean, proud of your son as well. As a Vet myself I know what it's like to be away from home for long periods of time. As Bruce said send him something everyday if you can, it brings memories of home to him that will mean the most while he is away from home.

Marks you have done well. Tel your son, watch his six and trust no one but those he came with. God bless all the troops. Semper Fi!
