I have a motor that came with yellow tins and I was wanting to put chrome tins on it. Everyone keeps telling me that I have to have the shroud with the fins in it to put the air where it needs to be. Does this make that much of a difference.

The tins dont really matter they are all about the same. The main thing is making sure you have the deverters under the cylinders. There are two kinds one just goes in between the cylinders and the other one goes all the way across the clylinders. They help circulate the air from the fan around the cylinders instead of just blowing on the ground. I thought pink was your favorite color anyway.

My whole motor is chromed. Its never let me down yet. The only problem i have with it is its hard to keep clean. It gives me a excuse to ckeck things out close while cleaning it. Dirt is the #1 killer of a vw.

I know what your sayin dave. If it wasnt for the effort of keeping my buggy clean it would prolly fall apart. Im bad rough on my equipment and the chrome on it keeps me busy going over it making sure its ready for some more abuse.

Nothing better than stock in my opinion. I use a Thing fan shroud and VW cylinder tins and type 4 oil cooler.

Most aftermarket chrome gets rusty, after a while.
