Hey, here's an idea to make it tougher. The 1st of 8 climbs to get clumbed will be eliminated in the next round.Just an idea if we have to tough it up.I looked on the computer at "Aerial Photos of Alabama" and saw Wendy Hollow in 1947 and 1951.They've been mining since the 1860's.Look under Jeff. Co. then Acipcoville ,Lower Coalberg or Fultondale.Look up, Al coal mine fatalities and alot of people died out there especially in the 1890's n 1900's.One fatality listed was Coalberg, "falling slate rock while laying rr track." Probably at or near the bottom of Hulk Hill.Farley said the gas company redid Grass hill. Not confirmed yet.Lots of negroes and convicts died. I guess they were given the worst jobs. They all had a hard way to live and work only with picks shovels mules and dynamite.Amazing.

i just got off the phone with robert , and he said he did not know for sure if they did anything to grass hill yet , cause the last time he rode was when i had the big ride there a few months back , but he said the gas company did have markers on this hill also , so lets keep our fingers crossed as far as them dressing this area up , cause this would be a great hill to make a new play area on for sure !!!! :? :? :? :?
it'd be like ol times , when it didnt take a army tank to climb it , just a real bad buggy !! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Hey Ron. 2 Springs ago, Swamp Hill, AKA Beaver Dam, was ABSOLUTELY un climbable, but me and three young 20 year olds took turns with the pick in the soft dirt and it was back on in an hour.We don't always have to wait a few years for the Gas man to come back around to Grass Hill. They were Austin ,Reno and Justin McHouston. The same ones that helped me cut Stair Stepper.

how long ago & where was this ,
was it on grassy side , or mt. busby side & can you still get to it without getting on doctor joes property !!!
i think ol graveyards are neat to check out , we have one on some backroads off hwy 145 , down from jemison side of the firelanes where we rode , where davey crockett's sister & her family had settled , by a place we call the blue hole (swimming place) & a few years ago some piece of shit stole her head stone , this grave yard dates back to the 1700's , this area is also rich in indian heritage with several indian mound grave sites there !!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

not a bad idea dd ,
but all us old folks cant get around as good as you still do , but that does sound like a great idea , i,m still gonna be in valdosta ga. until mid week , so i cant go this weekend , so as soon as were done with the corinth event , ill be ready to just ride , the hillclimb series is great & a lot of fun , but its a lot of pressure & you dont have a lot of time to just ride & hit hills at your leisure , i also bought a new chain saw that has not even been cranked yet , if we need it when i do get to come i'll bring it out , and if those young boys want to do some fillin in on grass hill , i'm not beyond bringing my grill back & doin a cookout or something to feed everyone & those that pitches in !! 8) 8) 8)

Well me and Austin DDs son went down in Windy Hollow today. We tried to climb out the wsay we wen in and couldnt get out. We then went to the other end of Windy and tried to get out there. After several tries by me and Austin we were both pulled out by trucks. This place is bad. I was hitting those hills with about all i had and couldnt make it. I did get close to makeing it out once but it dont count till u make it.

The gas line looked to be done but we didnt go over to grass. Joe blowed his motor trying to get out of windy and that took about the reast of the day.
