My buddy is going to tig weld it for me. This is an AS21 case. Will aluminum rod work on it or do I need magnesium rod? I called a few local welding shops and they don’t stock magnesium rod. My buddy said aluminum should work but want to ask the experts.

BTW I couldn’t even get the case hot enough to flow the durafix shit. I did map gas for 20min in one spot and it just wouldn’t flow.

You will have to use mag rods. I tried to weld a mag piece on a partner saw once and just about burnt the damn thing up. Mag. makes its own oxgen thats why they stoped making mag wheels when a car would catch on fire they couldnt put the wheels out. Anyway i wouldnt use aluminum rod on it. And if your not sure if it is mag or alum. just pour a little bit of vinegar on it if it fizzes up it mag. if it does nothing it alum. Good luck.
