I finally got my spindle inserts finished. I built a jig and welded up my first spindle. The top joint is a 3/4 hiem and the bottom one is a 1 in with a 1.25 shank. This is a modified 914 strut. The spindle snout itself is the same size as a ball joint spindle but these are already setup for disc brakes. I drilled through the side of the tube in 4 places at the top so I could plug weld it. Here's some pictures.

It's been to long since I've shown some progress on this. I've been spending a good bit of time laying out the front suspension. I had to build some short legs for the frame jig because the body was going to be to tall to fit in my shop. I finished those up and level the jig. A friend of mine helped me out this past week to level and square the chassis on the jig. We got the body set in onto it today.

I've gotten a good start on the cage. I of course need to add bracing and a bunch of other stuff. I'm kinda thinking about building the rear suspension then making the front to match. I'm still wanting to build chaindrive arms but I'm considering 4x5s because I already have the axles and it would be much quicker. I do have a 4.86 diff gear so that should help. I can always build chaindrive arms later.

I made some progress Sunday afternoon on the cage. I've been working on a light bar hoop as well that is taking quite a bit of time. I've the body lifted up about 4 inches right now because I'm going to have to weld the connector for the a pillars together before I weld on the light bar hoop. I'm definitely not done with the bracing by any means. I'm going to do an X brace on the top of the cage and in the main hoop. I'm going to wait on doing the X brace in the main hoop so I can get in the back easier to make the fuel cell mounts, etc.
