looking to do a budget build to a 1641 does any one have any tips or certain parts that will get me the best performance out of what i have any ideals or any to sense would be more than welcome right now i have a 1641 with a 2 barrel carb but not sure what brand and a car tranny thx for looking

Is it running? Post a picture of it and the carb. Have you taken it apart to see what shape it is in. A VZ 14 or W 100 cam will wake it up. A bit of head porting won't hurt. Some tips for DIY.

port the heads cut for 12to1 & i like the w-100 & you put 1.25 rockers on later

this is my brother he is getting a five rib suby steve found for him so he will have that in shortly he is running the holley 2 barrell the buggy runs now for what it is but if jeff would chime in his 1641 seemed to come alive when i rode with him in wellsville a few years back let us know the goodies you had in that motor jeff :D

i got the valves drilled out but now it aint getting any compression what so ever whats wrong with it ?

You didn't try to drill em yourself did you? Or just have any machinist do it? I sure hope not... The only way to get it to work is to borrow the special jig for drilling valves from Charlie Bowling, or have him do it. The jig mounts to a drill press. It keeps the holes at the perfect angle, and tapers the holes so only the bad compression can get out, not all the compression.

You also have to use a one way drill bit or the valve becomes two way.
