quick history, i ran vw's 5 or so years ago and always stock everything, i got a parts buggy with a good engine and I'm trying to get it running good for weekend,
it's a 1915
engle 110
delorto 40 or 44 single
only running on one cylinder at an idle
when facing engine it's cylinder on left closest to you ( i know damn new people)
seems to have a lot of power when you get into it, by this i mean it's a lot of fun when you open it up, I can't imagine one cylinder doing that
I pulled plugs and they are fouled black chalky, but all have spark.
any ideas
also the rocker shaft says auto craft (no idea if that means much)
what clearence should i have on rockers.
I pulled one cover off and there is no clearence

If your running chromoly push rods you can set them at 0 lash but good rule of thumb would be around 3-5 thousand's.As for the Autocraft rockers ,it could just be the shafts or they might have ratio rockers on them too.Id say adjust your valves and change the plugs and clean the idle jet in your carb.

also check your Compression it maybe low and dropping off at idle, should be over 100psi

You do know when you check valve adjustment (rocker clearance) your engine needs to be stone cold... and whatever cylinder you are checking needs to be on compression stroke, right?

is the timing set to 32 degrees full advanced (2500rpm)?
