 Post subject: gas in oil

hey i went and checked my oil and i smelled it and i smelled alot of gas would that mean bad gas pump becuse ik them older motors when the gas pump goes bad it will go in the oil mabe something eles please help with sugestions thanks

Where is your gas tank located, higher than the carburetor? It could be the needle in your carburetor float not seating / sealing completely and overflowing while it's parked and getting into the crankcase via the intake manifold, then into the cylinders and past the rings. Do you have a shut-off valve installed? (Do you use it?)

no i dont and ya but i looked at the carb already and i looked fine in my opinion but thats a good idea i probly will now thanks travis

Got the original style VW fuel pump?
Those have been known for the diaphragms to go bad occasionally.
They will leak gas into the engine sometimes when they do.
