Great lookin buggy! Looks like a climber!
I'm afraid jr. is right, with the zero backspace on them front wheels, it will be an arm yanker or a steer box breaker. Been there done that. And it hurt :x . Stock vw wheels will serve you better with a stock box.

Sorry fellas i finally got the # its 606 256 2060 I didnt get the brand yet but if you ask for bill and tell him you want the hay rack tires that everyone is putting on buggies he should know what you are talking about. coming to d&k from north it the exit before livingston. Exit number 59 make a right torward town go about 1 mile after you start down the big hill merge right and its 1st tire place on the left across from napa auto parts. small place country folks if you have any trouble get up with me maybe we can work out some kinda delivery to d&k or something

You can put those front rims on backwards to fix the offset issue. The Stalker I bought from Aaron has the same wheels on backwards & its close to stock offset that way. Use a Dremel or die grinder to put a chamfer around the lug holes.

i actually had a lot of trouble out of my wheels hitting the calipers and had to use a spacer of about 1/8" to get them to clear. i hope i can maybe spare some cash to go back to a set of stock wheels on front but im just trying to get steer brakes and front and rear brakes together and going so money is tight also am building a new motor for this one. Wife doesnt want me to strip our 2 seater to build this one so makes the procces even slower. Tokico needs to give me a raise lol!!!!!!!

Thats a very good idea!
He might wanna check to make sure calipers clear the spokes on the wheels when he flips them. Those wheels appear to be dished to the outside a little n they may hit the outer edge of the caliper.

Stock vws have very little backspacing to the wheels. The center of the rim is pretty much vertically inline with the wheel mounting surface of the drum (or rotor). When you put on a front wheel with backspacing to it, and you use stock vw steering components, everything you hit has more leverage to fight against you to try and turn the wheels, therefore trying to turn the steering wheel out of your hand.

I know exactly what you mean. I've built four from the ground up and still dont know how to plan for everything in advance. Best rule of thumb for me is figure what I think a project will cost, then double it  .

Gittrdun soon as u can. Lookin forward to checkin it out in person!

kybuggy1 are you a fan of the dry sump Ive heard both sides. Some people say its not worth the extra weight and is un necessary. I know a lot of people recommend it around london and d&k. I really dont understand the concept of it. well just asking anyway.

I believe they are absolutely necessary if you gonna do much hillclimbing at all.
The big pump (bugpack, arpm) is like an insurance policy for your engine, IMO.
