engle 110 with 1.25 rockers works as good as anything in the woods if u want bottom end or engle 120 if you want a little more top end imo

I agree. If you are dead set on running 1.25's, a 110 camshaft is a very good choice for your combination of parts.
A split duration Crower Cam would be the ultimate choice if you don't mind spending the 100 bucks for it. It works very good with the 1.25's also.

if a person were to try one of those crower cams which one would be best for the woods and hill climbing, im thinking the 61003 or 61004 from looking at the specs and comparing them to a 110, also would they do better with 1.1 or 1.25 rockers and what effect does the lobe center have, the crower has a 107* center and the 110 has a 108* center ?

or on a different note could a person mix rockers on say a engle 110 or 120 to get the same effect as the dual pattern crower cam, i have seen it done on v8 engines before didnt know if it would work on a vw, however i would think it should, just dont have any idea what a good combination would be such as a combo of 1.1 and 1.25 rockers, or 1.1 and 1.4 rockers, or 1.25 and 1.4 rockers ?

i was just thinking that mixing the rockers would have pretty much the same effect as putting in a dual pattern crower cam if you had a single pattern cam without having to go that deep into the engine

HEY BEN GO TO THE WEBSITE WWW.ACTIONIMPORTS.COM ,I BELIEVE THAT IS THE NAME OF THE SITE. THEY HAVE AN AWESOME CAM SPEC CHART. IT LISTS ALLMOST EVERY CAM YOU CAN RUN IN A VW CASE. IT ALSO SPECIFIES WHAT CAM WORKS WITH WHAT ROCKERS AND DURATION AFTER .050 ETC MAYBE THIS WILL HELP YOU DECIDE. I HAVE THE SAME ENGINE WITH YOUR OLD HEAD SIZE AND I RUN THE ENGLE 120 WITH 1.25 ROCKERS HAS PLENTY OF BOTTOM END IN MY OPINION.

61004 with 1.25 rockers works awesome. I have two engines running this combination in the woods. One is a 1915 dual carb with 10-1CR and the other is a 2276 single carb with 9.5-1 CR. Both these engines pull very hard right off of idle.
