ok ive got a set of the cb 044 magnums with 40 X 35.5 valves unported as in straight out of the box/no cnc porting

so, im wandering if i would be better off to buy all new 044's with the 42 X 37 valves and the cnc port job or to send mine somewhere to have bigger valves installed and either a hand or cnc port job?

oh if it matters on what to do i have 2 sets of the same heads one on a 1915 with vz15 cam and 1.1 rockers and the other set is on a 2332 with c35 cam and 1.1 rockers but whenever i have to split the case on either i will replace the cams with a 110 and add 1.25 rockers

A CNC port job is an improvement over none at all but it is not comparable to a good hand job.....you do call this Head after all. Give em to a porter & let him do his magic. Ive always been told a good bowl cleanup is worth HP. The guides need to come out for porting & going to bigger valves will run about 150 more.

Sorry been working . a 42mm valve & some hand porting will help alot . c35 advertised duration 285 .050 246 cam lift .381 valve lift 1.1 .419 1.25 .476 1.3 .495 w 110 advertised duration 284 .050 247 cam lift .392 valve lift 1.1 .430 1.25 .490 1.3 .509

Sounds like your going for torque and throttle responce. Big valves don't mean greater air speed. Go to performance-workshop.com. You want heads with great air speed Steve's ported 043 VW heads are going to have greater air speed than the 044s since the port volume can be kept smaller. He can also port your 044s. Call and ask to talk to Steve.
