Anyone have any experience with this tube notcher from Summit?
Obviously would not hold up in a production environment but for occasional use.......

Well I disagree on that one. You can spend anywere fron 30 to 300 on a drill driven notcher and you do get what you pay for. I looked around and decided that the cheaper ones were not for me and did not want to spend the higher dollars so this is my version of a Notcher:

here is the one i use. i do agree a quality hole saw makes a difference.lenox or ridgid work well. tap magic cutting oil or wd40 helps prolong the life. whatever is within reach at the time.

OK don't know what happened but, it has done this before. I go to post a picture, the image is to large. Can't back up and the posts just run over top of each other and my message is gone.
Any way it would be nice to have a milling machine and a lathe. However a my cheap tube notcher in a drill press works. Mine is like the first pictured but had to shim the pipe clamp an 1/8" , now the hole saw goes straight through and blade is holding up fine. It may not be for production, but this is just my hobby.

I notch with a chop saw Its easy and less time

This one work pretty good. Its what I use.

I use a harbor fight notch-er for simple cuts 90's or 45's but I use this web site for all the rest. You just print it out rap the tube , mark it and cut with a cut off wheel.
