Bought this back in December it was in one piece but that is about it brakes, clutch line, and wiring were far from trail ready. Fire waiting to happen is more like it.


I have been though every part on this buggy with the exception of engine/tranny has a new engine on it believe it is a 1776 running though a 3rib and bus to bus axles. Here are some pics of the way things are now, been in the garage all installing Earl's -3 lines from the pedals all the way back took some thinking but it looks killer try and post some pics of that later on today. For the most part redone entire electrical system wiring, kept the low oil warning light but got a vdo pressure and volt for the new dash, installed a 3000lb winch, shifter linkage was sloppy new poly/adjusted, front coil overs, added a CB, smaller steering wheel, backup light, added a 24" diamond plate purse for my wife, swapped out the straight collector for a U-bend, put a set of 7.50 tractors on the front, 15x14 Weld Xl's with Titan floatations on the rear. I am also one more weld in bar from finishing up the tree bars guess I don't have an pictures of them yet.

I am from Ashland, KY getting ready to move out to Grayson though recently sold my house and bought another one. Forgot to mention that it had 2x3 arms and has a 103"wheelbase, its also 85" wide outside to outside of the rear tires. I will be tied up with a shutdown the next two days didn't get a chance to take any new pics

Glad you like the color my other buggy was orange to, wish I really knew what color it was though I have tried like 5 different cans and can't seem to get it exactly the same where I have welded and ground on this frame. I got a chance to snap a couple shots of the tree bars and my brake line setup to show my progress from the last few days.

I appreciate all the encouragement just like any toy these buggies are a labor of love and not for the man affraid of a wrench. Luckily I am neither, this build has eaten up a ton of man hours in the past 2 months that is for sure. Looks like a lot of guys on here have some really interesting buggies can't wait to run into some of you this coming season

Yup cant beat the felling when you build something then get to go out and test it/beat the piss out of it. I like to call it finding the weak points.

My first guess on your color would be Chrysler Hemi orange engine paint but it is rough to guess a color from a pic.

I should definitely be a consumer report tester as far as finding weak spots in some of mine and other peoples builds. Me being a somewhat Mopar guy I have thought about the Hemi Orange that is probably one of the only colors left I haven't tried. Had a few cans of rustoleum follow me home from work neither of those matched, tried two Krylons from walmart and had a can of Chevy Hugger block paint. The best I have done was one of the industrial Rustoleums at least I have 3 huge cans so if nothing else I will just blend it around a little probably going to let the new treebars be satin black or cast aluminum engine paint. The UPS man also brought my VDO's for the dash Monday

an X brace in one of the head bars wouldnt be a bad idea if you have the tubing.. jmo

I had thought about adding an X brace to the headbars, but where the battery and toolbox are there wasn't really a good way to do it. Even tried turning the tool box around but the back angle of the buggy was too steep to let the lid open but like 2". It already is cross braced in the roof and has little bars in like 4 spots between the double head bars. Guess that is just gonna have to do as my maze of tubing has filled up all the space available in this buggy

That is a nice piece of work there. Looks like that tatt is holding its color really good, I was just thinking of going earlier today and getting started on another piece of artwork myself.

Ive got half a dozen Id like to get done myself but I keep spending all my money on my buggy.

Not to get my build thread off track, but I got this piece here done last August it turned out really well took a little longer than the artist thought but it was well worth it.

Well got my taillights and the reverse light finish wired yesterday, test fit the seat to make sure there were no issues with the cutting brake being under it. Made a few tweaks to the handle of the cutting brake though it was just to straight up so I resorted to cutting a V out bending it then welding it back together moved the tip closer to the shifter. Took me about a 3/8 or 7/16 spacer under the back brackets to get my seats setting the way I wanted. I do have a question of you guys though since I am gonna be cutting out the bar holding in the old gas tank and replacing it. How close to the backs of my seats should I make the new one? I have 3" from the seat back to the one in there now was thinking maybe 1" to allow me to shift the weight of the fuel further forward and keep the seats from ever being able to tilt far enough to pull the mounting bolts out of the well nuts in the bottoms. Any thoughts or safety factors I should keep in mind?

Whoooo hooo.. Got some real work done on the buggy today spent all day yesterday cutting out the cross bar in the hoop that was holding the old leaky ass gas tank in. Fabbed up new brackets added in some tabs for mounting my harnesses and after about the third time of cutting it out and tacking it back in I have a new bar now. Also got my seats and harnesses actually bolted in now making this build almost finished, also sprayed enough rustoleum today to kill a normal human. It really stands out though being painted instead of cruddy old tubes.

looks real good, all I got done this weekend is my x brace between my front seats and back seats.

Well in preparation for moving and wanting to get a maiden voyage in this weekend I managed to fight my buggy out of the garage today. What a job it was to get that monster out after having it trapped in on the side of the garage with no door for the last 3 months. Took a few finished build pics out in the front yard then worked on making the trailer a little safer and wide enough to carry it again. Also mounted up my new muffler yesterday so there is a pic of it to. Sure looks a lot better out doors

looks good man! Is that a street bike muffler? Those front tires are huge, must weigh a ton.
