im sure you will get a bunch of diffrent opinions on what shifter to use.as far as hooking up to your trans, are running a bus trans or car,and is your shifter box pretty level with your trans.the bus trans sets a little higher than a car trans and if your shifter box is set low you probably cant run the urethane coupler and get a smooth shift.if your shift box is already raised up level then yes you could run it.the stock replacement one will work fine also.if you want to keep your shifter rod low in the floor you can use one of these from bug pak.chad  Image

I have tried all the shifters, and the best imo, is the stock one. The drag fast is nice, but for the price, stock is the best.

stock shifter has replaced aftermarket and always works or can be sorted quickly. if you spend a few dollars on bushings first, i need a back-up light or noise because sometimes i hit reverse [always at the wrong time]. rings and buttons cause more grief and vw got it right. richard

Imo the the easy thing to do is just raise the shift box. I just used some sheet metal welded to three sides. As far as shifters never had a stock one but this one has worked fine so far. Image
