Has anyone ran these and what kind of problems did you run into? Axels are my main concern.

You most likely need to move your trans back to get an acceptable cv angle. Axles are no problem. You can get just about any size you need. 930's, coilovers (no torsion bars) or air bags are a must.

If your goal is to put more weight in front of the wheels then as Cole mentioned moving the motor back defeats the purpose. If your goal is to Increase travel then yes it might be worth it. Personally I feel 5 X 7s on a Woodsbuggy causes more hassel than they are worth. You limit yourself to wider trail systems and you still have to get it on or in a trailer.

I found 15x12 6" offset rims to keep the same width. Its 3" wider 4" longer, does that make that big of a angle difference on the 930 CV's? If so I'll try to get 6x7's made or 5x6's Moving the tranny creates to much work while defeating the purpose.

Yes it does make a difference. Because you are dealing with a larger CV compound angle you will have to limit your travel as to not bind the CVs. So again you defeat the purpose. You can get race prepped CVs that will help or go with plunging "U" Joint axels however that gets expensive. Racebuggy can shed some better light on the subject for you. I believe he has longer and wider arms than most.

Ok read your last resaponce after my previous post. As your goal is to shift weight rather than Increase travel then Its worth exploring. You may end up with the same travel as 2 x 3s or 3 x 3s however your weight bias issue will be helped a lot. The other option that I would entertain if I had you issue would be Baby chain setup like Firebugs. You get four good things. Better travel, weight bias , the ability to change final drive ratios to suit your needs withouttaking your your trans apart and last its less wear and tare on the trans.

Well if I go out and back the same distance on top of my 2x3's it shouldnt change the angles at all.

Am I looking at this right?it all of those should run the exact same angle. I have a guy that can make any of them that I want. And if that works and I put on bags is there anything else I need to count on coming up?

Ok Baby chains, started asking FB about them last year, and recently stole pics of his from his photobucket account, sorry Marty You said you would dig em up and send them to me, lol. Same thing Rock told me about A-Arm front end. My fear is that I dont have the tooling available to make them. As well as the fact I think marty said he added like 12 inches to the length. Makes me longer then I want for where I ride most of the time.

The one part I like about baby chains is if I gear it down I could actually have a drive train that would handle my motor once tweeked. I'm told 400 hp isnt real hard to get out of these motors by a cpl race guys I know. So I'm told

It's up at front, I havnt had a wheelie problem after the last few mods. Did great at D&K (last ride) just wish my brakes would have been working. Cutters are hard to use when you have to pump them

you are still getting longer which increases the angle regardless the width addition rite? or am i wrong?
ok after rethinking what your asking i understand if you keep the same ground clearance and move width and length the same that makes sense

An inline 4 cylinder WC engine would be a good candidate for babychains. A fella named "Strong" used to post on here a while back. He ran 5X7's with big offset rims and loved them. Search his post for info .

One other possibility if you need just a bit more up front is move your seats forward a few inches if you can. Move the pedals as well & shorten the steering shaft. You would be amazed at the difference moving your butt 3 inches forward can make. Its probably worth 30 to 40 lbs.

Since the purchase and the wheelie vids I've done a few mods.
Added front bumper, race brace and tree bars.
Replaced Aluminum beam with steel
Replaced Aluminum Spindles with steel Spindles
Replaced steel spindles with Drums and steel 5 lug rims with tractors
Moved the battery from rear to front
Added a S-10 power steering box
started eating more carbs
Added extra Cage braces and a aluminum roof.

When I got it I could lift the front with one hand no problem. Now I have trouble curling it with both arms. I need a few rides this year to decide if its bad enough to worry about, just getting ducks in a row if I need to modify it more.

That short purple one of mine felt heavy up front but really got light under power. At the Haspin dirt drag I squared off against my buddy & from the moment I dumped the clutch the front tires didnt touch ground again till I hit 4th gear. It would climb flawlessly as long as I never hammered the throttle. A little finesse will keep it under control.

my station wagon sand fox is actually lite in the front end, with my front seats as far to the back as i can get them and the rear bench seat rite over the torsion,but the more i get used to how it drives the better i like all my rear traction...

Ya I ran that drag strip a few times and I have to let up just a hair to drop the fronts. But still keeps pace with the motocross guys. If I hit third I'm locking it up to keep from sliding out the end into the rough stuff.



This is the 2 seat sandfox, not sure if its frame or engine but she sure hooks good for stock goodyears.

My buddy ran a 6 rib & never got out of 3rd. My 3 rib used up half of 4th out there. Its amazing what a difference in gearing between em. It almost sounds like they shortened the track some. That was a long strip.

With the few buggies I raced I just coasted after 2nd ran out, it was plenty. I dont think its shorter, but it is rutted to heck at the end from erosion, dont wanna hit it at 60 or 70 lol. Makes the majority of the fire trail look like public roads.

You are still moving back faster than you are moving out. A 6x6 trailing arm keeps the same compound angle as a 2x3. Going 5x5's will change your front weight a surprising amount and not be excessively wide with the right offset wheels. I run mine in the woods on ATV trails all the time. I think you may be over-thinking this a bit.
