 Post subject: 2500 destroyed!!!!!

i was running a 2500 dpr full cicrle crank cb bubble case web cam billet lifters wedgeport heads when the cam broke in half and cause the motor to bust the case on the top of it on the pully side can it be fixed the holes are about the size of quaters can it be fixed pix coming soon

how old was the motor? if it was rather fresh, I'd contact the manufacturer of your camshaft and see if you can't get some kind of compensation, because if it wasn't old and you werent beating the tar completely out of it, chances are the camshaft was made of inferior steel, and they may help you out...

what if everytime a properly installed part broke to easy the company in question got mentioned?whould they step-up?thinking to myself if i made it i would follow up with all problems after the sale.i buy from other peoples success in combinations.if it"s my fault i say so,broke many good parts from not measuring good enough myself and holeshots killed the others.sick to see anybody have costly damage,working on a turbo project and hope i"m not next.richard

this motor is three months old and has been run mild if anything it broke at about 8200 rpms it is a billet cam and lifters so it should not have broken payed 200 just for hte cam and 150 for the lifters and its going to cost about 1800 to fix it 1000 on jugs and pistion 300 for the cam and lifters and how knows how much on the case . i think i will run my 2332 for a while its been together for three years big motors are such head aches

Very sorry to hear of your bad luck.
But Ran MILD.....and it broke at 8200 rpm?? Nothing mild about 8200 rpm!
In your defense, it still SHOULD stand 8200 for brief bursts of a few seconds under a load.

$200 cam, I 'd be callin them ol' boys. Why so high? Was it a custom grind?

Wow $1000.00 for jugs. you must be running some J&E stuff. I would for sure call the guy from the cam. If the cam broke where did it break? show a picture of it if you can. $200 for the cam. I think they gouged you a little.

The Question is did you have to clarence the hell out of the cam to build that big of a motor? did it break in a ground down spot ?

yeah it was a pre clearanced by them it was a billet custom grind cam it broke at the cam bearings on both sides and at the cam gear bearing are ok.it looks like u cut it will a ban saw on both sides of the center cam bearing

got pics of cam ? when they clearance they should radius the corners where they clearanced right.

ill have pictures soon but the cam was cut by cnc with the clearances already there
