What I have

2332
Dual 44idf with cb update kit
Stock ported heads (forget the valve sizes)
11 to 1 compression
1-5/8 exhaust

Will I notice anything if I put 1-1/2 exhaust on? Basically I’m asking if it will be worth the time just swapping the exhaust. I already have both sizes so it’s not going to cost anything

Thanks, Brad

You should lose a little power. You want the exhaust to be bigger than the ports in the heads. If they are smaller then you are restricting the exhaust gasses from leaving the motor. Some say using a smaller header will give you more bottom end. All it does is restrict your power a motor that can not breath can not make power.

Brad whats your ex ports measure ? Bruce is partially right,if your port is 1 5/8 and you use a 1 1/2 header you will"choke"it , but if your port is only 1 1/2 an 1 5/8 header is hurting you imo If I only had a flow bench to test with! Weres Kevin at?

in theory..more low end torque, might not notice much on a 100 or so hp v-dub motor but take a 700hp smallblock and big gains on low end from exhaust changes and the 1/8 mile proves it.... 8)

I really doubt you will notice any "seat of the pants" change.

NO flow bench Greg but can use a DTS DYNO from time to time . 1 1/2 will make more noise & maybe more TQ under 2500 rpm . Will depend on how big the engine is & heads cam carbs. It all plays a part.
