Has any one else had problems with these ? Mine and a guy I ride with have had the filter try to blow apart at the seam at the top

i run fram filters on my buggy, have not had any problems with those but had a trans filter do that 2 me on my commercial truck at work 2 weeks ago. cant remember the brand of the filter, but it was one of the big red filters that napa sells

I had a double set on my v8 fiero and broke in the motor. When the brake in period was over I cut them open and after that I will never use them again! Junk! Its no wonder walmart sells them.

Run Wix Racing Filters, the best $$$$ can buy, its fairly cheap and drag racers use them. I run 51515R Ford/Chrysler spin on filters and can get them in bulk off of ebay or buy them individually at Napa.

i had a buddy that blew apart a fram like that and then he bought a carquest filter that they said was made by wix and it blew apart now he runs the k&n filters with no trouble but ive always run the motocraft fl1a filter that goes on the 5.o mustang and never had a problem

no relief valve stuck,jus big oil pumps,when its cold i can blow any of them apart,ive tried fram,motorcraft and the hp1,,,that suppose to stand for high pressure,but it will still swell the tops

Same here. Crank up a stone cold motor with a good oil pump on it on a cool morning and rev on it within the first 60 seconds or so and you run a good chance of blowing any of them out. I've had the best luck out of WIX Racing 51515R's. I was told Wix makes about half the other brand names out there, including Fram.

Even though there are other filters that are made by WIX, you will get what you paid for, just like the real honda generator engines, you pay big $$$$ for them and they last forever and stays very quiet, you get the Chinese knockoff ones and they may not last as long and will get noisy over time, WIX makes best, good, and JUNK filters depending on what the name brand its made for. It is all about the $$$$ in the automotive business, just my $0.02

I don't like Fram filters personally.
Seen too many come apart internally or swell like a frog.

This is the one I prefer.
Washable and reusable.

Them Geers filters are very nice, but I can change my oil 15 times with a WIX filter to get my $$$$ worth for one of them filters. I change the oil once or twice a year depending on how often and hard I ran the engine thanks to the dry sump system

Can't argue with that logic but I can spin that Geers filter apart and see what might be going on with bearings etc.
I use one on my engine break-in stand just for that reason.

K&N filters pricey but no problems

I would never buy a Fram oil filter. JUNK. I use WIX or Baldwin. I always cut open my old filter after an oil change to see what is going on inside the engine. It pays to keep tabs on this.
