So i have no low end power n e more. ! had it at Wellsville from Fri to Mon. It runs fine when i put the peddle to the ground n i get up in the high rpms but on the low end i got nothin n it wants to stall on me. Do u think i just got some crap in the carbs or what?

odds are its dirt in the carbs. Start with cleaning your Idel jets. Does it pop and crack? Does it start easy or buck? If so and you have a mechanical advance on your distributer make sure it is returning.

ya it pops and cracks. but no trouble starting. i have an electronic.
this all just started at the end of my weekend.

assume you run a weber. definately check idle jets!!!!!

what is the best air intake set up to get to keep the dirt out?

i run k@n filters with outerwears or unifilter foam wraps depending on the dust but my gues is that the dirt is coming from the fuel part of the carb not the air

i would clean my tank and carb then blow out the lines

i run a good filter between tank and pump and another between pump and carb

when u clean ur filters then oil them put wheel bearing grease on each end of the filter where it goes on the base and the top,it helps alot

And cans over your filters will help a ton. Those tractor canister type filters prolly do the best job.

Its a battle trying to keep it all out. All it takes is the tiniest piece of crap in there to plug that idle jet. Just pulling your can top to check the filter is all it takes. May take a ride or two for it to finally find a jet. The grease trick works well, but COLLECTS dirt at the same time. We sometimes will even use a THIN bead of silicone or RTV to seal the filter to base and top. Very important to change fuel filters on regular basis as well. Change them BEFORE you think you need to.

ya i currently have sealer on the top and bottom of the filters.

Next,do a vacuum check(you may have to make a vacuum port but you will be glad you did) a vac test will even show a bad plug wire if the guage just bounces one number as it idles,do a compression check,look at your plugs, and then a fuel pressure check (put a T in your line for a port) and you will learn ALOT about it.Bad low end torque and smoke was usually my 1st sign of low compression.
