Can someone take some pictures of their tree bars and post them up here so i can see.. Im wanting to add the piece of metal on the treebar that sticks out to cover the width of the tires.. and also, I think some of you guys use angle down the edge of the tree bar?? i saw this on a lot of buggies with is at d&k. my tires are catching every tree i drive by..

thanks... is that about 1/4 inch thick piece of steel with 1/4 inch angle running down the tree bar?

Yeah, but the second pic is not mine. A lot of guys use angle iron to help slide off of trees

thanks dvs1, I got the plates cut and will be welding them on this week, ill get the finished pics up here some time... i dont think im going to put the angle down the side...

you might want to put a brace down from your frame to back of the stump bar and some cross braces,if you do any kinda serious trail riding you will bend those up and in.but your on a good start.chad

I welded the extensions on mine. I hit a tree bent the extension and bent a 3x3 arm.

I put little angle braces on and it's holding up so far.
If you look close you can see what I'm talking about

yeah im going to add some support bars.. I have had to fix those tree bars twice.. I thought about doing it like your blue buggy hillaholic.. i will just have to see what kind of thoughts the next case of beer brings me.

my next step is to build up my 1641 with a new solex carb so I can do some serious riding...

The tree bars were on my buggy when I got it. Some day I am going to put new ones on using 1.5 tubing and angle them up so there is less to bottom out on.

This is my old buggy I used 1” tubing and they didn’t hold up very well, but you can see how I angled them and no bends except at the front.

I made my bars very simple and removable. I figured better they bend and give than the chassis itself. Any thoughts on that. Would i be beeter off making them more stout and welding them solid?

i am into blazing new trails and going where there is no roads and just take out through the woods, i like make the trails sorta speak and therfore i use my treebars all the time,if i just rode the easy stuff and had no intentions of every getting off the beaten path then i'd say they are fine but if you followed me around then yes you better have them and they better be braced,and i know there will be someone who says they go everywhere and has never had them and dont need them,well you do need them if you ride like i do they are a good thing to use to get around trees and they protect your buggy is the main thing.chad
