I would like to thank all the people (you know you you are) that helped in the recovery of Bill and his Buggy. Good friends are hard to come by. I was 150 miles away and was unable to be there. I spoke with Bill again this morning and he was headed out to the shop to start cuttin against my better judgement of cource!

Next weekend my friend Jim and I were going to do a test and tune ride at Wellsville. Instead I'm going to take a road trip and give Bill a hand getting his car back together. Only 4 weeks to get it done before Memorial Day.

A helmet may have prevented the cut and his ear gettin ripped loose, but it could've done more damage to his back and/or neck. You need a neckroll with a full helmet, make sure you cant lift your shoulders off your seat when buckled in, and make sure the roof is braced accordingly with the weight of the buggy.
I wore a neckroll for the first time at the last hillclimb, and it actually makes the helmet LESS cumbersome feeling. Takes some of the weight of off your neck, it doesnt feel like its trying to jerk your head around when bouncing over stuff. Even my boy didnt mind his, and its easier to put a helmet on a bear than it is for me to get him to wear his anymore, but he didnt mind it with the neckroll.

I think a diagonal bar going from your elbow bar, right about even with your seatbacks, up to the upper outer corner of the windshield frame would help a ton. I been thinking my buggy could use it for a while now, and Clayton added them to his after he broke his neck. Sounds invasive, but he said it doesnt bother him a bit. May have to connect it to the elbow bar a little more forward than your seatback on the driver's side. Even if you just put it on the passenger side it would still help hold that windshield frame up. May be a p.i.t.a to get in the bugggy around it, especially for the passenger in a two seater. But you could always tell them to build there own if they dont like climbing around it.

Just VERY glad you're OK plumberbill !! Hope you get your buggy fixed by Mem. Day, but it aint worth risking a full recovery. Get well first.

All I have to say is Billy is a trooper, I can't believe he is back at it already. Bill, let me know if you need any help or anything, we gotta get you ready for MD! Oh, and this is how you know Billy is a die-hard, as soon as he came through, he was only worried about us getting that damn buggy out of there, no worries about himself, just that buggy! As serious as it was, I'm not going to feed you a line and tell you it didn't make me chuckle a little bit! Get well man!!

There are better ways to get attention, you don't have to get all fancy on us.

Glad you're okay Bill.

PlumberBill, I hope y'all BOTH get back to "good as new" really quick! I'm sooo glad you had friends with you that were able to act quickly and get you some help. Just imagine if you'd been alone! I have to agree with Kathy, here, though.....From the way that buggy looks, you were in EXCELLENT company.......

Glad your alright.
Afterburnt and myself have a tube bender and the rest of the stuff to rebuild the cage if you want to go with 1 5/8 x .120 wall tubing. All you have to do is get your buggy to Brook Park and supply the tubing and a little help.
Just offering so you'll have it for Memorial Day.

DAMN!!! That shit took my breath away just scrolling down. Really glad your ok, I didn't think you were going to be. Thought this was a test and tune, not a destroy and rebuild!

Trooper it out! I built a whole buggy in 4 weeks last year for mem day so you should have a few weeks to test before Wellsville hahaha. I am sure Mike and Steve will get ya going good.

Kyle

O and I really doubt X bracing would have prevented that. That load was front to back on the roof, X bracing will provide side to side load bracing. To really prevent that the side "windows" need V bracing. Your winder is leaned back with nothing to support it forward so when it hit it just laid back. Even the little gussets at the bottom of the windshield frame will make the piece a lot stronger, all the load is right there where the winder meets the main frame rails.

Hopefully someone understands 10% of that lol.
