 Post subject: trans qustion

my 6 rib trans keeps popping out of reverse and has a slight grinding noise when it dose so.....


the rest of the gears are fine


any help....??

is the shifter adjusted so it goes all the way in ? make shure of this ,take the shifter rod loose to check it if it is in all the way and it still jumps out ,PUT IN A NEW REVERSE GEAR

how hard is it to replace the revrse gear,,,,, could i do it... or not..??

first if you still have rev. no need to replace it. you have a linkage problem. take your shifter lose and slide it as far forward as you can. see if this helps. did you have it before powder coating? is it a stock shifter? let us know

the guy who was going to powder coat oven broke and wasnt going to be done with it in time for d&k so i had to spray paint it..... for now

and ill try with unhookin the linkage ill let you know

just cause it still works doesnt mean its any good ive have pulled them apart and all the teeth were almost side ways on the little gear and the teeth on the 1 2 slider were half way gone it could be an external shift linkage problem but it could be the linkage inside has moved also
