Not sure if you guys have heard anything.... but I got wind of a rumor going around that they are gonna add another set of R/R tracks over by the yellow creek campgrounds. The downfall is that there will no longer be access to wellsville from there. Debating if we should renew out campsite for the year if we arent going to be able to ride. If this is true.... What do you guys think of Oaktree? Is there sites available? Etc... any info would be much appreciated

It's probably just another no truth behind it rumor. But hey ya never know. There are plenty of sites at oak tree. That's also where the woodsbuggy party is memorial day weekend. I used to stay at yellow creek, I like oaktree better for numerous reasons. When the trains go down the tracks at night, my camper doesn't shake, it's quieter at oaktree, there is a light hill climb right in camp, the owner at oaktree is very friendly, cell phones work at oaktree, and the access road is a million times better at oak tree.
There are rumors flying around that oaktree is gonna close. But those have been flying around for years. I will worry when we go out there and the sherriff is there telling us the place is closed.

You sure have some good points there... so is oaktree similar to yellowcreek in the fashion that you have somewhat of a permanent campsite? What is the fee? Is it a yearly thing... or a pay as you use thing?

They started building the siding last year. It is to be used for the new Fly Ash Dump site that is going to be built at the Free area parking. That is why the trees were cut down to make room for the Dump. The current Time line of project is unknown.

they are getting ready to lay another set of tracks -- but i dont know if it has anything to do with us or how it will effect us -- they have new ties layed out along the tracks from brilliant to wellsville at least , and norfolk - southern railroad police patrolling
