what ideas do you guys have to prevent the cable from freezing in the housing? i used to have it just running through nuts welded to the frame but if something were to fall onto the cable it would stick the throttle wide open so i changed it. i now have it running through a piece of brake line but it freezes in the winter(obviously). any boots? housed cables (morse cables)? anything? what do you guys do?

Try a product called Fluid Film. A lot of guys use it on snow plows to prevent snow from sticking and it stops rust. Works perfect for snow blower chutes or dump truck beds, its like WD40 but a whole lot better!

You are more than welcome to move to Alabama. Seriously.
