 Post subject: beadlocks again

i seem to have forgot where i put this topic at but heres the question i have my beadlocks welded in there is about a 1/4 inch lipp of the rim sticking above the beadlock do i grind this down or leave it there so it pinches the bead better thanks

I'm not sure on that. How did you weld them? Have any pictures? When I did mine I welded all the way over the lip.

i set mine down on the inner lip centered them and welded, my rims were all banged up on the buggy when i got it back that was the only rerason i put them on i have no pictures right now but hopefully i explained it well enough if not i can get some pics maybe

If your describing things correctly, I would have left it on there. That projected lip would center the tire on the rim, without it the tire could wobble on the bead lock side.

that bead would be to big mike. the tire wouldn't actually center on it because the bead is smaller on the tire.

There was or is a beadlock kit that required you to cut off part of the wheel bead, the part that formes the largest diameter. What was left was part of the wheel that the inside of the tire bead would slide onto, the ring was set back forming a sholder that the tire centered onto.
Kyle who's wheel kit is that and does it simply weld to the outside lip of the wheel?

my beadlocks are from summit it had to sit on the inside of the lip when i welded i dont see how i could of welded a gap as wide as what i had steve if your watching this topic did you help jason with his did you have a lip sticking up above the steel plate you welded in if so did you guys grind that lip down flush withthe steel plate

I had about 1/8" gap in mine. How wide of a gap do you have?

when i got my beadlocks they were just like that. i took a shot and left the lip on there been like that for 3 years with no problam.

well brad some spots i had an eight but the rim was bent bad while the buggy was gone and other people didnt like to take care of it i ordered the 15 inch beadlock kits but like i said it had diff gaps around the rim
