So who got in on the ice storm overnight and this morning? In BG we had about 1/4" of ice this morning on everything but the roads weren't slick at all, just wet. I did see alot of tree limbs down and the tops of some pine trees are touching the ground.

It is very NASTY here where I am at, we got 4-5" of snow overnight and during the morning hours, and then it started raining and as soon as the rain hits the ground it froze into the snow and now we have about 4" of ICE in some places on the ground, but not enough to tear any trees down though.

Well I didn't have internet at home last night. I can't get DSL so I'm stuck with satelite high speed (wild blue). It's much better than dial-up, but not like cable or DSL.
This morning we had MANY trees down accross the roads. I had to back track and take a different route to work... Shoulda brought a chainsaw. It rained all night then started snowing around 7:30 this morning and supposed to go till around noon. Looks like it'll be a mess!!!

I was out snow blowing the 8" of snow in my drive when the snow blower ran out of gas. All I had left for gas was 110 octane. I love the smell of that stuff but it's a little pricy for a snow blower, I think I paid 6.99 a gallon for it last season.

It snowed hard for about 2 hrs here this morning. Ended up with about an inch that's mostly gone now. Now we've got flash flood warnings everywhere thanks to 4" of rain last night and this snow melting. Here's a pic I snapped on my way to work this morning. There's a ford under there if you look closely...

My in-laws live a couple hours north and west of here around Madisonville, Ky. They've been out of power all week and found out yesterday it's gonna be 3 to 4 weeks before the get it back. They're running on a small generator w/ 12 to 14 people staying with them. They also lost water this morning and won't have it again till they get electricity. You can't find a generator anywhere around here. I stood in line for an hour this morning at Home Depot waiting to buy a new one so they'd have 2. H-D got a tractor trailer load in this morning and I was #130 in line. I did get one though...

We got hammered pretty bad here in Louisville, too. None of the snow melted before the ice hit, then we got more 'winter mix' on top of that. Ice is thick enough on top if the snow in my yard I can walk around over 3-4"of snow and not go thru! Still well over 150,000 w/o power last I heard . It was over 400,000 two days ago. Just estimates, probably alot more than that actually.
I had power the whole time until about 11 pm last nite. Extra 1/2" of snow thru the evening may have been the last bit of weight the lines could stand on my street. Luckily my dad found a store with some generators yesterday and bought a nice Honda. He is letting us use it, because his neighbor has a generator hard wired to his house and my dad is plugged up to it. My closest neighbor's son in law brought him a generator and the one on the other side of me is sharing one with his next neighbor.
I feel very lucky to have good family and friends, and a stockpile of dry firewood!
My work still has power, but its sure hard to concentrate on beating on a wrecked car with all this goin on!

Here's a few pics of my yard, looks like a tornando went thru it.

These branches fell just seconds after my wife walked behind my truck to get to her Jeep which was in my shop.
She decided it'd be best to stay home from work after that!! Tried to tell the hardhead!!

Looks like a mess, I'm glad yall are making it ok. It's amazing your dad was able to find a generator. They are a HOT item right now. I just read they estimate 650,000 folks w/ out power in Ky. I'm just glad I'm not one of them.

Glad to hear you've been ome of the lucky ones Steve!
If u know people still lookin for a generator, Home Depot on Dixie hwy has a lot of them. And another semi load coming in. 5500 watt electric start w/ Briggs n Strattons for $799. LOUD as hell but better than a blank!

Good deal, lets just hope it stays on!

Unfortunately, I know the generators you're talking about. $846 with tax... ouch

We got about 8" of snow here then it changed over to ice and we got about an inch of that. The next day it snowed another 4" of snow on top of the ice. It has all collapsed down into a dense snow/ice layer about 4-5" thick. They still haven't graded the roads around here. They said on the radio yesterday that 80% of carter county was without power.
