I am running a set of 44mm Webers right now,but i have a chance to trade them to a killer set of heads,which i need for my motor.My question is,would a set 40mm Dells supply motor with the right amount of fuel,or will i be able to do some jetting on them to make them sufficient.

I think Larry and those KY guys are running 40's on their 2500's, but don't hold me to that.

Thats right, Dave. It may sacrifice some hp at WOT, but it helps for a crisp throttle response.
Whatever works for you, Bucky. Get the heads. If you decide later you want more top end, and the 40's run good, I'm sure you wouldnt have much trouble selling 'em later.

i think webers r junk everyone weve had had a big dead spot in them trade for the heads and get dells

Ive got a set of 44's now,but i believe i will get more power and range from a set of Super Flow heads v/s 044's.Not saying 044's are bad,i have ran them on 90% of the motors ive had,but im going to try a different route and hopefully it will help.Hey Badvw,CB performance sales a Dellorto update kit with horizontal dishcharge bars instead of vertical,have you or anybody tried one of these kits out?

we might still have a set of duels theat have a horrific dead spot in them caused my dad to role so hard it tweaked the roof and it has bracing ill ask him if he still has them

Webers are far from junk, if you get a pair in good shape and tune them properly they are just as good as dells, actually a little better on top end, IMO. I run dells on mine just because I got a deal on them, but the webers on Koko's motor have performed flawlessly for four years. Only drawback to webers that I've seen is tendency to clog idles easier than dells, but set of jet doctors and cans over the filters helps that out a ton.

Bucky, you sure about them superflows? Gotta rev the guts out of your motor to pull hard with them usually. Might wanna stay with the 44's if your gonna run superflows, they scream at top end but were sluggish down low when i had them on my 2387.

Now that I look at them, your right. Maybe you have to use a carb base on top of them?

Apparently your Weber carbs were not adjusted properly to have a "Dead Spot" I went through mine quite a few times to get it adjusted right, and it runs awesome now, no "Dead Spots" here for me.

I admit some carbs take a lot of work to get right for your application,but ive never had a set of Dells before till now,so that goes to show to me that webers are fine.Im a little nervous about trying the dells out since ive done so much tuning to the webers,but since Dave over at Shadetree is going to do some porting on my heads i might stick them on and see how they do.I have never had anything done by him,but from what i hear from other guys on hear and what an incredible price he charges,im sure they are going to work wonders for my motor.Since it is teardown time for some guys,i highly suggest you give Dave a call and let him do some head work for you as well,you have nothing to lose and more horsepower to gain,and as i said for the price,it definatly wont break the bank.

Dells are better carburetors by design. The problem is that they are all old and most of them are starting to wear out. Webers are fine and work great when tuned.

dellortos are gettin hard to find but parts to fix are still avalible,i wish i had a set of 45 dells,they are mantaince free
