This is the project that I am going to start in the next week or two. It will be baddvw's old packrat frame with a s/c ecotec for power. I am taking two buggies and making one I will be posting pic's as I make progress.

This will be the first one I have done in 10 years so I would love your guys input on this project.

Holy Sh*t!! looks like you are gonna have a killer rail when finished! I have always thought about running ecotech on my old packrat when I built it, but I talked myself into running a VW engine   Keep up with the good work on your project, it will be a good one when completed.

After watching all those buggies Thursday it lit a fire under my ass. I got the packrat ready for paint and rolling. Post pics soon.

What are you going to use to control fuel and spark on the motor? I'm doing an N/A Ecotec in my 4 seater build and I'm planning on using a Megasquirt for fuel and spark.

Do you have the adapter plate yet? Kennedy took about 5 weeks for mine, but it sure is nice! Very well done product.

Please keep us updated. I'm curious to see your exhaust and radiator setup.

I am going to use the factory computer and harness. I will have to get the computer reflashed and customize the harness.

Cool build! Keep us posted. There are a lot of people interested in the different water cooled swaps. Glad to see another being built.

If you plan on using a lot of aluminum, Red. If you're gonna trim it out in black, Silver. 8)

I talked to an old buddy from school today he has a chassis dyno and hp tuner software. So I will be able to get the most out of my ecotec and have some whp numbers.

Chevy Cobalt SS, I have a buddy that has one and man it runs very good for a 4 banger, he can go down the road around 40 MPH and step on it and go to 100 MPH in probably about 4 seconds.

First thing is you need to call around and see what kind of tuning they can do on your pcm. From what I understand the 2.0 and 2.2 pcm are totally diffrent. The 2.0 can be reflashed to just run the engine (or that is what I have been told) I guess I will find out soon. And then you need to get the wiring schematics from a gm tech, someone who has access to shopkey or alldata.com. The harness is actually pretty easy. I cut mine down to the bare essentials and labeled all my wires in about three hours on my dining room table. Make sure before you start they can turn the VATS off on your pcm or you will need the bcm and key switch to. Oh yeah you will need the plug that goes from the pcm to the bcm (my art project) it is the one that controls all your relays. Give me another couple of weeks and I will be able to answer some more questions. I am still in the trial and error process.

After plumberbills accident what would you suggest I do to mine? I have it all stripped and ready to paint but
I am thinking I need to do some more bracing. Would an x brace be enough?

I think the x- brace would probably be enough, Some may come up with another idea for ya. Also, if it doesn't already have it, I would recommend putting bracing on your actual roof underneath the diamond plate. One bar going horizontal right in the arch of the roof, then four bars coming from the center of that, one going to each corner. It would turn out as an x-brace in the roof. I'd just make that out of 1". That's what most are.
Just my opinion.
