It has been brought to my attention about producing a "DUNE BUGGY OLYMPICS"or" Buggy Nationals" with such events like a

1. Buggy Long Jump
2. Ugly Buggy contest
3. pretty buggy contest
4. Buggy drag race
5. Buggy tuff course ( just like the one they ran at Shelbyville)
6. King of the hill contest (25'hill at 85degrees)
7. Miss Dune Buggy Bikini contest WOW!!!!!!!
8. Cloverleaf Barrel Race (just like a rodeo)
9. Buggy Tug O War
10. Ladies tuff course powderpuff class
I have a place in the Mid USA that might be interested in hosting this event. Before I say anything more to them I want some feedback from all buggy drivers and owners. The Total added purse would be pretty good. Give me your ideas and thoughts. I can say this much, The date is July 4th, 2009 This would be a one day all day lone event. Giantic Fireworks display afterwards. Bobby Paul American Monster Motorsports LLC

To give you more info on this event. It would be held in the Springfield,IL area.It will be open to all and any buggy's.Even if you have never won anything. There would be a total Purse of$4000.00-- $5000.00 . In addition a film crew would be interested in shooting the event for the outdoor network. This would be the greatest breakthrough for dune Buggy's to receive national exposure. I think after this event they would want to do more on hill climbs and other events. The committee is really interested in this event. If we could have a turnout of 30-50 Buggy's or more, WOW!!! That would sell this event for ever. What a way to celebrate the 4th of July. as the Buggy Firecracker Games.

Ok I think I can handle that. I'm in. Wish we could do a hill climb of some sort inside but I think that would be a bit expensive. Need to show what these things can do to get more people invoved. Maybe a mud bog, lol.

Count me in. I am only 75 miles south of there. My woman says that my buggy wouldnt look good in a bikini, so I am guessing that it won't be entered in that contest.

OK Folks. The race is on!!!! I just received a call from the chairman of the fair and July 4, 2009 is the official date of the Buggy Firecracker Olympics. Since this is corn country we could call it the Cornfield 400!!!!!! This is open to any and all buggy's. The location is Schuyler County Fairgrounds in Rushville, ILL. They have the equipment to build a 25' hill at 85 degrees. This is a great fair and a great group of guys on the fair board. I have been doing events for 30 years and this is one of those places that you feel at home. We are also in the process in setting up a buggy parade in town the evening of the 4th. I would love to see 50 plus buggy's for this event. YES THE BIKINI contest is ON. This would also be a great place for any sponsors to get involved. I'm excited about the event. I'll post the official classes and payoffs in the near future. Thanks Bobby Paul
