 Post subject: Bent rod!!!(2276)

Hey guys i just traded some stuff 4 a 2276 in a box every thing looks good but one of the rods its twisted a little and ive never clearnced rods b4 can i get an odd rod and balance it with the others or should i just get a whole nother set :? oh yea it has dropped a valve thats the reson 4 the bent rod!! :|

That's stock for sure. You can replace just the one rod and balance it to match the other three. You would definitely want to have the other three checked and rebuilt while you are at it. In my opinion, if you are going to go to all that trouble, just get another set already done. (unless you do all your own work)

I think I'd do an upgrade for that engine.

Either these:

Yea i[*] like the second ones but i'll prob go back with stock the motor was only supposed to have about 4 or 5 rides tha wrist pin end still look new !! :shock: he only had single valvesprings it must have slapped the piston cause it snapped it right at the valve the rod isnt bent real bad so im hopen its not hurt!! :mrgreen: Image

Have the crank checked.
Any episode that would twist a rod like that can't be good on the crankshaft.

who and where would i go to get it checked what would be some obvios thing i could look for i spun the rod around the crank it seemed tight still the bearn looked almost brand new !! :mrgreen:

Any automotive machine shop should be able to check it for you.
Need to make sure it isn't bent.
Sometimes a spun rod bearing will bend one.
Same thing might apply to this situation.

I would check it for you if you were closer......... :wink:

By garage you mean a automotive repair shop or automotive machine shop?
An automotive machine shop should be able to set it up in V blocks and put an indicator on the journals to tell if it's straight.....
