Wanting to pick brains about wheels and tires. Larry {kybuggy1) has sent me some great information and was wanting to get some more ideas. I can't decide if I am going to run one set or two sets of wheels and tires. I will be doing mostly trail riding and some street and some hills but no extreme hills at all. But this is what I have a clue about so far.

Hill Climbing in KY

Rear Tires
Type: Firestone 23 degree flotations 4 ply if you can get them but 8 ply that have been cut.

Tire Size: 31x14.50x15

Wheel Size 12-14 inches wide. Seems like several people are running dirt track beadlock rims with adaptor plate.

What type and size of wheels and tires to run up front. I will have front disc brakes so I thought a tire with more bite would be best instead of the regular ribbed tractor tires.

I really like the looks of the v cut tires up front and rear but am leaning more towards a all terrain type tire so that I can ride both on and off road.

Anybody running an all-terrain tire they are happy with?

What type of front wheel do most run with the dirt track rear wheels?

Just trying to gather some info.

Typically Muti purpose things are marginal at best to good enough for more than one application. Tires are no different. If your going to climb hills and run mud and rough terrain than by all means buy tires for the application. Same goes for the street. If you don't you may be dissapointed in there performance. When I first got my Buggy it had Micky thomson Baha Radials on it. They were great for dry hard packed dirt and hills. Add Mud and they just could not make the grade (punn intended). They can be run off road and on the street. I still have them if thats the route you want to go. If your in the Cleveland ohio area (or meet up at Wellsville) and would like to try them out your more than welcome. You would have to have them mounted back on the rims I have.

I run the "V" thread on the front of mine and am pleased with there performance. They tend to brake and track better that the 3 Rib Implement tires I was running before. They also ware really well.

What are some name brand v treads for the front? I currently have 5-15.00 3 rib on the front but i want to get some v treads. Where is a good place to buy v treads for the front and what size could/should i run on the front?

I suggest a mud terrain tire. The firestone 23 sucks for trail riding, imo.

Here is what I have. I like them,,,they help about pushing in turns. I would go taler next time though,,,,maybe.

If I was going to ride the street and trails. I think the BFG All Terrain tires would be tough to beat. I used to race my buggy and I had a set of them. They love dirt. And I bet they would be decent at climbing. I really think that is a tire you could do both with. You could run them front and back.

i run goodyear terras in the rear and 3 ribs in the front for offroad. for around town and light offroad around town i run dean celestial metric radials and groundhawg type rear tires. youre really best off with two sets if you plan to do any serious riding. i have run the dean celestials which are basic road tread pretty much offroad with no problems at all, though. i would b e more worried about the rear tires.
