The one Rock used is called a charrlynn torque genarator. If you look on ebay for charrlynn you can tell by if it looks like the steering shaft goes through it and has a place for two hydro ports. The regular charrlynn has a steering shaft on one end and two hydro ports and that's it no place for the steering to exit. And if you find a deal like buy one get one free, I need one too! My big heavy chaindrive and and my little 130lb butt need all the help I can get.

That's it. Now go ahead and pick up me one too. Just kidding. That's a goooooood deal, you will need the port block and the mount for the charrlynn it's under 10 buck and not worth your time to make it for that much.

Darn!!!! But it looks like your 100 or so to the good maybe more. Don't forget the port block for mounting the fittings and the mount for the box itself.

I think McKenzies has all of the accessories you may need to complete the power steering system including the port block and mounts. I think some of the cheap distrubutors in Hot VWs are now selling the Charlynn parts (Moore parts or Pacific Customs).

I'm more concerned with weather or not to actually use the char lynn. I'm not sure my homemade front steering can take it. I am going to fab up an A-arm later and might as well at least try it though. :?

was out at Primm NV, this past weekend pitting for Baja Pits and General tire, anyway a buggy came into the pits with abroken Powe steering cylinder, where the cylinder attached to the .120 CM frame it peeled the tubling like and onion, it seems the system puts a huge strain at the poing the cylinder is mounted in the front, just thought id pass this on.

They do put a lot of stress on the frame mount. Mine flexs when I reach the stops.

i have had my beam move even though its clamped into the frame, when this happens the rack will stop but the ram wants to keep going to "it's" stopping point, this is when the ram becomes a log splitter and rips the mounting bracket right off. i had to weld stop tabs on the beam to keep it from shifting left or right.

I havn't hook mine up yet, but I was told you want to put the torque generator inline with your rack. It will eat u joints if not. I'm sure some of the guys here will chime in.....racebugg1098....

I would agree with that logic. A solid splined coupler between the rack and Torque generator will be the strongest and last the longest.
