You had to check with your mom on what music is good?????? :? Anyways DAC has a few good songs, but if it wasn't for his adults only cd most people wouldn't even know who he was. I think Hank 3 is way cooler. Not that DAC is bad, 3 is just better. Also Dolly Parton is just more corporate country, If she didn't have big boobs, she would still live in a trailer (not that there's anything wrong with living in a trailer) lol

Uhhhh.....yeah, he has to check with his momma, my wife. He is 14. Everybody on here knows that, except YOU, apparently. Did you see the BOTM article on the home page?
We do our best to watch what he and his brother watch, listen to and talk about. They dont get to hear the 'adult DAC albums'. At least not by our permission.

This is NOT country at all, but did y'all hear that Richard Wright (the musician, not the writer) died yesterday? I have listened to Pink Floyd since the 70's and STILL love their music.. Syd died a couple of years ago, now Richard..... All of the old ones are dying off.......It's sad..........

OOOOOOOHHHHHHH, you are SO in trouble now, wreckincars.... :P :P :P

I love Dolly..... She's country, she's sweet-spirited, she has an unbelievable vocal range and the ol' gal can write a song. She wrote one for Porter Wagner, who was her friend and mentor and who had given her her first "big break".... You may have hear of it...... It was called "I will always love you"

It went to number 1 in 1974 when she first released it.......

It went to number 1 again in 1982, when it was in the movie "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas"......

It went to number 1, and has the record for being the biggest selling non-charity single in history in 1992 when Whitney Houston released it after it was in the movie "The Bodyguard".....

It made it to the top 15 ONE MORE TIME in 1995 when Vince Gill and Dolly released it as a duet.......

This is just my opinion, and I'm thinking here, but what I am thinking is that ANYBODY that can write a song that was a HUGE MEGA HIT four different times and THREE of those times she was singing it, well, it might just be that she is not a flash in the pan who's only claim to fame are large mammaries..... Like I said, this is just my opinion..... But I LOVE Miss Dolly...

Ok, wreckincars, you're out of the hot water now....... :P  :D

Not a little one sided are you. I think Hank 3 is cool just because he reminds me of his grandfather. But c'mon? Do you really think he is more talented than Dolly? Do you really think he is talented at all? I am not a huge fan of Dolly but she has talent! Lots and Lots of talent. When I think of some of the great country music artists like Goerge Jones, Merle Haggard, Patsy Cline, Bill Monroe,Jim Reeves, Ray Price, Marty Robins, Waylon Jennings etc.ect.ect....Do you really think Hank 3 could shine their boots????? I still enjoy listening to him.
I think maybe we should just get rid of all singers but Hank 3 and come around to your way of thinking. It would sure make deciding what album to buy easier.

We were raised with country and bluegrass.... Our Daddy is a retired business owner...... Now what he does is drive a bus for Merle Haggard.....and one of his best friends, maybe his best friend, period, is Ray Price...... Yeah, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say we know Country  :P  8) I LOVED Vern Gosdin, until he got to where he couldn't sing anymore, and that is a pure shame..... Course, NOBODY can sing it like Ol' Possum......

Wow!!!! I got slamed  That doesn't happened enough.
Ok if you read the whole post that I was refering to, Dolly was the only person I said anything bad about. I am a huge Cash fan, I also listen to Waylon, Hank Sr. and jr. Pantera, Hatebreed, Sick of it all, Chopin, DAC, Down, Rebel meets rebel, Santana, Clutch, Flogging Molly. to name a few.
As far as the artist you named, hank 3 will probably never have the legacy or influence that most of them have. Don't forget this forum was labeled "hank 3" not "country in general" Also I was talking trash about pretty boy bands like rascal flats, and Keith Urban. I was just sayiong I don't think dac is as great as everyone makes him out to be. And sorry Gator gal but I have always hated that song "I will always love you' Even before you told me dolly wrote it. There arn't many songs I "hate" but that one really is one of the few. Sorry if it bugs you, I hope this doesn't put me back in hot water
So with all that said. Long live anybody who doesn't play ball with the radio, or kiss record executive butt. To heck with the sell outs.
Good thing I didn't title this post "who you gonna vote for?"

I really was not meaning to slam you..... It is no big deal, wreckincars 8) I imagine the reason that you hate that song is because of the millions of times it has been played.....it's ok.....my husband despises the song but I still love him  Oh, yeah, he also HATES Dolly..... BUT he DOES acknowledge that she MUST have talent because big boobs will only get you so far......

I like all kinds of music....from Classic Country to Classical, Gentleman Jim Reeves and Metallica, Pink Floyd and IIIrd Tyme Out...... Pretty much anything but that Rap Crap..... I have a very eclectic taste in music...... BUT, I don't think that Hank 3 is really trying........ Bocephus was made to do his Daddy's songs until he rebelled then turned around and made a totally different sound for himself.... THAT took some talent...I feel like #3 is not really trying to do anything new and special... I feel like he IS riding on the coat-tails of his Daddy and Granddaddy......

By the way........I will be voting Republican.........WOW, WHAT A SURPRISE!!!!!!! :D :D :P :P

I'm not mad. I'm laughing  I do agree that alot of his sucsess is based apon who his dad and grandfather are. That was the reason I checked him out in the first place. His first album was his grand dad's song's. He got his start doing shows as his grand dad. He did come up with this metal/punk/country blend (which is mostly bluegrass with electric guitars instead of banjo's) he has going on. But I'm pretty shure that will ever be mainstream. Also he is probably gonna end up like his grandfather, dead at a young age. It's well known, in the metal community, that he hangs with Phil Anselmo. The old Pantera/Down/Superjoint Ritual, singer. Phil is a well know heroin addict, Hank 3 has talked about heroin in some of his songs, so he'll probably end up over dosing. Sad but true. If ya like him make shure you go see him live before that happens. I'm shure he will become huge after he dies.
Also yes I hate that song because it's been played five million times.
One more thing. A few years ago I told some people who I voted for and I never heard the end of it for years so now I tell people I voted for Ralph Nader (I don't actually vote for him). That way when anybody starts complaining abut who won I can say "hey I voted for Nader"
