You are right, but when it was turbo VW , it was for blacktop drag racing only.
Now its got a 4.3 in front of that 'glide.
WELL, it did have.
No tellin what will be on there when he gets it out again!!
As far as doing a mid engine with VW stuff, i doubt it would be worth the trouble for a hill climber. If it was better, someone would already be doing it.

He told me it was built as a hill shooter but never did see the dirt.
Can't blame him for that. It is or was a nice car.
Mid engine cars work great on the sand, I've had 'em.
They are heavy on the nose though.
My guess is they won't have enough weight transfer to dirt hill climb.
