 Post subject: CB EFI Question

A buddy of mine has the CB fuel injection on his 2276. I was helping him with syncing them and tuning them, and was not having much luck. He doesn't have any manuel or anything on them, so I did alot of guessing. First problem was the idle adjustment (on the box) doesn't seem to do anything. Are little ajustments like quarter turn or less enough? I went from the stop to 8 turns out, and saw little if any change. My second question is, does the fuel pressure increase as the rpm's do? Any help would be appreatied

I have this system on my Buggy. syncing them is no different than webers.

After syncing the throttle bodies set the TPS output voltage between .8 and .9 at Idel. This makes a big difference on how the Idel adjustment reacts.

Are little ajustments like quarter turn or less enough?

My second question is, does the fuel pressure increase as the rpm's do?
Set the pressure regulator to 45PSI at Idel The pressure should increase as the Load on the engine increases based on what the MAP sensor sees.

You can down load the entire manual off of CB Performances website. The best advice I can give you is have your buddy buy a wide band (narrowbands are useless) O2 sensor. Without one you are just guessing. Its the difference of a 10 minute or a 10 day dial in.

I syrcronized them ok, i just couldn't get the idle adjustment to do anything. I didn't know about the voltage at the tps sensor. Are you talking about a hand-held o2 sensor?

Either a handheld or a permanent O2 sensor. I just bought an LM-2 that is a hand held with data logging, PC interface and OBd 2 interface. This is more than you really need. The LM-1 is still avalable on Ebay. If the motor does not have a Turbo then you could dial it in with out the O2 however it sure makes it a lot easyer.

Are you saying that you can plug in an o2 sensor into it? I think he has the older injection kit. We decided that it needs a filter, and then the pressure set.

No you can not plug into the ECU. The ECU is out of a 1992 Geo Storm and has OBT1 protacol. THe LM-1 does not have OBT interface capability anyways. Thays why I suggested that one. I bought the LM-2 because for what it cost for an LM-1 and the lMA-2 RPM converter it was only 40 bucks more for the LM-2. The LM-2 gives you the RPM interface plus the OBT2. Are you refering to a fuel filter? What is your current pressure?

I think the pressure was around 30-35 psi at idle. We took the fuel filter out and we knocked some crap out of it, but we didn't have a new one, so we reused it. I told him to get a new one before we do anything else.

According to CB Performance Tech Support 30 35 PSI would be to low. However in talking to a few guys they say keep your pressure 20 psi over your maximum Boost you will run. So you could run 15 pounds of Boost with that pressure. I would think that the duty cycle and feed rate of your injectors will have some bearing on it to. The first time I ran mine the Idel pressure was at 50 PSI. as it turns out it was running way to rich. In set it at 40 PSI and that made a lot of difference.

yes, we did. First, the tps was bad, then , we were starting with the knobs turned all the way in instead of out. Thanks alot for the help!
