I found out the hard way that on boggers the white threads ard only about a quarter inch below the lower surface of the rubber. I just cleanded the sawed off lugs down to the lower surface . I suppose you could use a tire groover then to get closer to the threads . :?

Jesse, The best thing to do if you're cutting rubber out from in between the lugs is to use a tire groover and cut just about to the chords (white threads). Try not to cut into them, but go as close to them as you possibly can. Then, use a tire hog to smooth the cuts out or to sharpen the faces of your lugs. This is what I usually do when I cut v-treads.

If you accidentally cut into the white cords it will not ruin the tire. If you cut tires, you will have this happen here and there. Don't worry about it.

I took those sandpapper style 4" disc for my grinder, punched some holes in them to let the rubber out. (careful not to get them out of balence) Smoothed out a set of 44" swampers in no time,it works great. REALLY SMOKEY!!!

like roy said, It will not ruin your tire by cutting into your chords, as long as you dont cut all the way down to where there is only 1 or 2 plys left in that spot. You will know when you hit the chords when you're cutting a tire, You will hear a crunching sound and it will become harder to push the gun through the tire.

Dakota-How do you charge for cutting tires? I have a set of buck-shots and a set of tractor tires that I need cut. My time is limited and I need them done.

Call if you are interested...615-414-7593 Chris
