What is the difference between a flanged crank and a regular 8-dowel 4340 chromoly crank? I am curious about its difference in the prices, it seems to be alot more expensive for the flanged crank and you also have to machine your block or buy one made to work with the flanged crank. Any inputs? Thanks.

Flywheel is bolted on to the flange made on the end of the crank with several bolts rather than fit over the dowel pins and tightened with a gland nut.
