Would anyone be interested in making the trek up to Silver Lake this summer? I have talked to a couple guys about it. No date has been set. Just in the planning stages.

Actually I was up there once before and the boggers did great. About all you have to do to ride there is buy a spark arrestor and a flag Appletree had those. And a pass from the DNR.

If you have a muffler( no glass packs) or a catalytic converter, or a turbo you won't need a spark arrester. A flag is needed, an O.R.V. sticker and a State park sticker(or a day pass can be bought). If you are going to ride more than 3 days I think the state park sticker is what you will want. If you camp at the state park your motor home or truck camper and buggy will need a state park sticker. If you stay at an other camp ground then only your buggy( street legal and driven in) will need 1. If you haul your buggy in the tow vehicle will need a sticker as well. The wider the tire the better the float will be, skinny tire will only dig in and you will not have a fun ride.

I would love to try it once. Yes turbo = no spark arrestor! I can deal with that. What does it usually cost for one day? Sticker and registration wise?

Might check and see if that is Mount Baldy hill climb weekend.

I think that is the weekend after LD.
It is held at the park spring and fall.
Worth the trip just to watch.

Silver Lake pretty much closes down after that weekend.
Lots of seasonal businesses are closed by mid Sept.
Take some warm clothes, I've been there in August when it got down to 40° at night........

Be sure to take this ride, driver gives a history of the dunes as well as a decent ride.......... :)
It's on the south end of the dunes.
