I put a 3-rib in my buggy and I am wondering what axles to use If I put a bus cv on the car axle I can not install the clip. I am running stock trailing arms. With the car cv on the bus axle there is a lot of splines between cv and clip. any help would be apppreciated. This is my 5th buggy but 1st bus trans.

bus axles are to long to run with stock trailing arms. car axles are realy to long since the bus is wider than a car transmission, but 99 percent of people dont put their money in a shorter set of axles with the longer splines. In a buggy with very soft suspension the end of the stock car axles will mushroom, making it hard to get the cvs off. some people leave the clip off, i don't like to do this, some people grind out the inside of the star to make enough room for the clip, some people grind the axle down enough for the star to go back enough, but i have heard of the axles breaking after this. we usually have a machine shop cut the inside of the star out enough to go over the axle and allow you to put on the clip, this probably isn't any better than grinding but is looks alot better, you do loose a small amount of splines in the star but we haven't had any problems. this is just my two cents, may not be right, or any were near right, but has worked for us, there are plenty on here with more experince, maybe they can give you some better options.

The best choice for this application is to use Thing axles or Porsche 924/944 axles. They are the correct length and have the correct spline length.
Check the classifieds and you will eventually find some. Junkyards are full of the Porsche stuff if you know where to look.
