I need some help getting my carbs jetted correctly, so who is the guy I need to get in touch with to help me properly get me Dell 40s jetted? So if anyone can help I would appreciate it. I am running a Shadetree 2176 (78.4x94) with 044 heads (42x37.5) 1.25 rockers, 110 Engle Cam, Dual Dell 40s. My idle jets say 55 on them but who knows if they have been drilled out, and I cannot remember what the mains were.

try aircooled.net u can e-mail him and tell him whats in ur motor he will tell u what idles,mains,and air jets

You can't properly jet a motor that way, you can get a starting point from engine size,cam ect. Then you will need jets on hand and plenty of spare time.

Are you coming up to Wellsville? I can bring my plug gauges and my jet reamers. We can dial it in up there if you want. It tales a couple hours to get it perfect. I will help you dial it in.

Thanks for the help guys.....I already have that book. I will get in contact with those people listed and if I dont have it figured out by Memorial Day I guess I will have to let Roy figure it out. Thanks for the help guys.

john at aircooled.net has built and raced about every combination that you can build with a vw so he should know what size jets the guy needs

Why buy a fist full of jets when you can open up the ones you already have? That's why I bought the tools. They payed for themselves on the very first tune job I did. Sometimes you might want a 58 idle jet? You can't just go buy those, you have to make them. What about a 147 main jet? Try to find one of those. I think you get my point.
There is a huge difference between getting it running right and getting it tuned.

I would never kick myself for investing in tools! 8)

roy i had to buy gauges and jet reamers to,a single 44 weber is the hardest thing to tune

That was my point, My last comment was meant to be sarcasm. Of course buying reamers and gauges is smart and to "PROPERLY" jet your motor it takes hours. But if chris38375 statement was true about just emailing someone and thats good enough then why buy tools for it. I had my 40 dell rebuilt from a guy i think in utah and i told him my engine spec's and he prejetted it and test ran it on a motor and the jetting was way off. Can you get close by eng spec's? yes. To dial it in and make it right like roy says, it takes hours and knowledge and tools. Buggyman asked in his original post how to properly get his 40 dells setup and for that an email aint gonna cut it.

Just got back from Shadetrees and I am going to have to order new jets for sure, mine have been reemed out pretty good and are too big for my application....thanks for all the help guys!

The last single 45 Dell I tuned for a guy on his 2276 took me 5 hours to get it perfect. The jet recommendations that I got over the phone from a professional were not even close.
