Does anyone on here mount there seats so they lean back farther than normal. This is what im planning on doing so i was wondering if anyone has built a raised crossmember for the front seat mounts. Any ideas and pics would be helpful.
Thanks
Nick

I mounted the back of mine on the floor and the front on a bar to raise it a little.

Mine are mounted on an angled piece of aluminum. Wish they leaned back a little more than they do.

I have suspension seats and raised the front about 2 inches. It's much more comfortable that way.

I also have suspension seats and my front mounts are 2.5" higher than the rear.

PS: NICK, you need to get out on a ride and check out some buggies in person and take some mental notes. Come to Wellsville in 4 weeks for the party and check out everyones rides. Take pictures, steal ideas.

I have done this two ways. When my floor was on top of the frame, I put a small 2x4 under the front mounts of each seat. Cheap solution and simple solution.

On my new buggy, I have the floor under the frame so I mounted front tabs flush with the top of the frame and the back tabs flush with the floor. I also used the seat mounts and seat adjusters from Summit Racing.

Good Luck.

Dan

I have suspesion seats and they are leaned back by a total of 4.5 inches in the front.

Here is the front mount from my old rail. They are about 3" raised in the front. I really didn’t like them after a couple hours riding my lower back would start hurting because they were leaned to far back causing you to slide forward and no support on the lower back.

I will have pictures of the seats I got from you(I think it was you) soon. I actually cut the back brackets off and welded them flat and it leand them back about 1"

How would you slide forward if they were leaned back? Reason i ask i really need these as comfortable as possible due to lower back disc problems. I would think that if the front was raised you would slide back into the seat and it would support your back even better..

I didn’t slide far maybe an inch. I don’t know, I thought the same thing when I put them in. They were the all vinyl Corbeau seats and I leaned them for a little more head room. They felt great when I was all strapped in with the 5point harnesses and not driving but after an hour or so of driving my lower back would start aching. I could have been my pedals too low or just a little far away causing me to stretch to reach them. I tried moving my pedals back an inch it did help a little, but if I moved them any further back my knees would be to close to the steering wheel. What I think it was doing was pushing up on my thighs to much and making me slide on the vinyl.
