im looking to get a new trans for my buggy i have a stock 3 rib and i have no speed going up the hills after this weekend seeing all the buggies that would just fly up the hills im wanting something new so what is the best thing i can build

Try and find you a good 091-6rib to start with,they are the best base to start with.Then you can put basically what you want on the inside,weddle engineering makes about anything you need for one,try Turbo blue he has some for sell I think

If you're on a budget and don't mind making some modifications, find a watercooled vanagon mid-shift. They're cheaper and a bit stronger stock. The only downside is that you'll have to fab a mount and either buy or fab your own shift linkage.

Search for it here and you'll see what I'm talking about.

It's a pretty good option.

Gary has a good point. The engine torque, buggy weight and tire size will have a play in the choice of gearing. "Rib" selection is not only strength but ratio as well. Will you have enough power to pull a 4.56 gear? Something to consider.

i dont know all the specs i have them in the shop but i do know it is a 2180 and im not on a budget.

here is a few pics of the buggy if that helps and i will try to get more specs on the motor

With a 2180 you will easily be able to use the 4.56 ratio in the 6 rib. I would try to find one and put a super diff in it. Start with that and you can change the first and second gears in it later down the road.

Can't answer that question till you run the stock ratio's first. You have to have a baseline to compare from. You know what I am saying?
Install one with stock gearing. If you like the way first gear is, stay with that ratio. If you feel you still could use more ground speed in first, you would want to lower the number slightly. If you felt you were bogging out to much, you would want to raise the number slightly.
