i lighter flywheel revs up faster correct? i think that is what dean is getting at... If he lets off the gas he can get right back into the power quicker...

That is why you want a lighter flywheel. For hillclimbing that is what you want!!!!
I use the sand buggy hubs and rotors. they are 6 pounds.
I use motorcycle rotors on the front (very light) lighter = easier to push up a hill

I think they are close to the same as the sand buggy ones.
It still applies here except at a much smaller scale and even a 1600 VW has no proiblem spinning a stock weight Flywheel. So it does not require that much power in this application. In Racing I would want a lighter flywheel because your in the throttle hard most of the time. On a hill you tend to feness the throtle in places to keep the front end down or to top a ledge etc. Food for thought. You allready know how your current flywheel works so put that one in and test it. If

I use a 50 year old 6 volt aluminum flywheel. Even in the 1960's they knew it was better. Every ounce removed from the reciprocating parts of the driveline (pistons, rods crank, fan, hub, flywheel, clutch, diff, trans gears, axles, cv's, hubs, rotors, wheels, tires and chaindrive gears)=more horsepower applied to the ground.

I will give up a little bit of drivability any day to get a faster revving engine. With a stroker motor, the heavy flywheel hurts you more than it helps. A heavy flywheel does help for small displacement engines.

I guess I must be the oddball then because I hate a lightned flywheel. I had an alum 6lb flywheel on my 2176 and hated it. I can understand what you guys are saying but I just didnt like it, maybe if I would have rode it some more and got used to it but I'll stick with a stocker for now.
I guess it goes back to my dirtbike riding, Ive always liked a mean 4 stroke over a 2 stroke.

Just my 2 cents

Donnie
