I'm pretty sure it was the mains. I'll ask Scott tomorrow to see if he remembers. Been a couple of years. It was the first Weber IDF I had ever messed with. We both run dual 40 Dells now, and that weber 48 and its mate are sitting on a shelf. Maybe I'll take that one apart and see what we did!?! Felt like it wasnt getting enought fuel at top end, so I got the Weber book and found where the mains were, and ran a little drill bit thru them!! Crude at best, but it worked. I have managed to learn alot about tuning dual Webers and Dells since then, thru trial and error, advice from you and others, and reading everything I come across on the subject! Not a pro yet, but I can get a set to run pretty good on most applications. The hardest part to me is figuring out what jet sizes to start with. I usually just ask Tim or Steve where to start and go from there! The "guidelines" in the Weber tuning book are useless for woodsbuggies, IMO. Everything Way too big. It seems on selecting venturii, the best way to go is smaller to get a snappy throttle response. If the right "parts" are in the carbs, the balancing with a synchrometer and tuning for best lean idle are gravy.
Single center mounts, thats still black magic to me! Not much to read about them. I know they are not ideal , because the fuel de-atomizes thru the long intake runners, but it puts a good carb. I already have to use. I'll definately take you up on some advice if my sons build goes as I am planning and we go back to a single center mount application.
